Providence (MSG), Wed., Jan. 10, 6:30p, FS-1

Harping on bringing in a player around the 14 minute mark of the first half with a 9 point lead is one thing. It’s another thing when said player leaves the game two minutes later with the lead up to 14 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half. Why is that senseless? It’s not like PC went on a run when he was in there.

The head coach knows he will need certain players ready when situations arise. Pitino’s track record speaks for itself. He gets my benefit of the doubt. No coach is perfect, but better arguments need to be made to call his use of Conway last night senseless.
I am sure he was rewarding him for playing hard in practice and not pouting. And I am sure if he would have done something positive in his limited mins he would have gotten more burn.
But it is very hard to do positive things in limited time and usually it doesn’t work out. See David Cain’s first 3 years. When u try to force feed a few minutes to someone it usually doesn’t work out and ends up looking hokey.

Great win. Loved the fact that we got knocked out mid game and got up off the mat and found a way to win. Exactly what we did not do vs Uconn. We are learning different ways to win.

It is scary to think that phantom foul on the carter 3 at the end of the game almost cost us. Just an awful call by the ref.

They got 4 points out of that too, because of the stupid possession arrow (two guys going hard for the rebound when the third attempt was missed). I have always hated having games be potentially decided by that. Why not just have the two guys jump it up?

Funny that you say that, my friend and I were joking about how high he shoots it now. Higher is better than line drives.
That was Joel's problem last night. He tends to shoot line drives normally, but last night that were straighter and harder then normal. A the results reflected that. I suspect that on Saturday we'll see slightly softer and more arched FTs from Joel.

FWIW I’ll take 8/11 from Joel every time

It was worse than a phantom foul. It was the ref falling for a shooter sticking his leg out, I thought refs learned about that trick in like 2018.

Agree with every thing you said except , no good passing PG’s since Cook?
Ponds wasn’t a PG either but , managed to get the ball to Clark and Simon 30 plus times a game . Often with no look passes .
Of course , the 2 of them invariably missed 20 of those shots .

Ponds , basically had to do it all for Mullin teams . Figgy and Heron helped some on the scoring side . Heron was injured a lot .

Many posters didn’t realize how great a Player , Shamorie was for the 3 years he was here .
Good call. I certainly didn't mean to denigrate Ponds who was great here. I didn't say "no good passing guards since cook". Ponds could pass the rock no doubt but in my estimation his best asset was his ability to score - and score in the clutch. Jenkin's had like 15 espn highlight quality dishes last night leading to scores, fouls or missed finishes. Just got me thinking.

Interesting that you mention Vegas since that's what the Big East is to me. One minute you are doing great, and the next you wonder where your stack of chips went. It's not minute to minute or hour to hour like Vegas, but these conference games come fast and furious, and every one is a war.

It's like that old game Battleship, where you have to avoid land mines. I'm sure there have been a thousand video games with the same theme, but I'm old school. which is just another way of saying old. Like Panther2 wrote, unless you have a NCAA invite sewn up, every game has implications. The guys are playing well, but we have to go through Donaga next. One of our guys has to step up like Superman to help s survive The Test of a Warrior.

You see I played Battleship with my ships in the water so they avoided all those land mines. ;)

I bet your Son is dazzling them at Cooper Union with his perfect use of Paragraphs .

CU is a great , great school that most People don’t know about . Son must be a Brain .

Do they play BB ? I hear the Pace Setters want to scrimmage them next year .
IS CU still free?
