Providence (MSG), Wed., Jan. 10, 6:30p, FS-1

Have to find a way to win this game. Period. Full stop.

Soriano should have a decided edge inside, should be able to control the boards, and — if we can get into the high 70’s/low 80’s, as we’ve been doing lately — don’t think Providence can stay with us.

Let’s protect home court and keep the positive mo’ going.
I don't see a problem here, our offense has been cooking

I loved the quick entry passes in the Nova game and hope they continue. Guy at the top of the key passed to the wing and the wing instantly got it in to Soriano before his defender could adjust position. Very impressive stuff.

I also loved the pass from Soriano in the lane to Dunlap in the corner. Dunlap missed it but it was one of the top plays of the year to me. That is such a good play for us if neither one of them hesitates. It’s almost like an RPO in football…cheat off Dunlap to help and it’s over.

Would love to see us run some offense through Soriano with how well he establishes position and keeps defenders on his hip. We are 4-0 when he he has 3 assists or more.

Because other fan bases have seen a tournament win since 2001. Because other teams don't average 2 Ncaa bids a decade. Because other teams sniffed a Nit bid some point last 4 years. Everyone here, same as you, values home court advantage and don't favor fans disguised as empty seats. The fanbase isn't awful...the team is. P.S. Your podcast is tremendous. I love it. Thanks so much for doing it!
Thank you so much for listening!

Bald men are more manly, baldness is caused by testosterone. Don't at me, it's science.

Indeed, especially with the goatee.

Bald dudes and goatees = alphas, certified bad asses...

Away from attendance, etc., back to the game itself. This should be a good one, and my daughter and I are in Center Court seats (well Sec. 117 anyway).

Feed the ball into Soriano as much as possible he cannot be stopped by the Friars.

Once he starts dominating the paint, they will double or triple team him opening things up for the slashers and the 3 point shooters especially Brady.

Joel, don't be baited by them into a shoving match or a silly technical or anything like that.

Keep calm, let your play do your talking. No sense engaging with idiots.

A few years back I took a young lady to a Dayton conference tournament game at the Barclays. She was a Dayton grad. Was very impressed with their band and fan base. She said their home games are events and I’m sure they are.
Sign em up!

All true . Providence has Oduro , Geo Mason transfer who is a lefty and has quick moves in the low post . Soriano has to be aware of not getting in foul trouble against him . The Seton Hall big men couldn’t handle him early in the game last week .

There will be a "tipping point" when attendence gets a nice bump, but Rick or no Rick, it ain't happening overnight. It may not even happen this season. Besides if we get 12-14k tonight I'll consider that a very good night.

Some of the same people who have preached "patience" when a new coach is hired, including Rick, are the same ones who seem to have no patience when it comes to the attendence making a big jump. Meanwhile, didn't season tickets sales increase substantially this season?

So let's take it easy boys, we're in great hands and the program is clearly on the right trajectory. We're probably still going to have some bumps along the way(lose some games we should win) but things are looking better then they ever have for our program.
Game is Wednesday. :)

Great stat

For those on Twitter, tonight at 9pm we're going to be previewing the game with a Providence member as well for their perspective. If you want to talk some Johnnies hoops please feel free to come on the show - everyone welcome, taking all calls etc.
