Question for the Old Timers:During the late 80's & 90's into the 00's as a way to market my newly formed firm and a a way to network, I once had 10, then 8, then 6, then 4 season ticket packages just for the MSG games. A lot of the group I was aiming at was from NJ so the campus games were out.
10 TICKETS! Ouch, it cost a lot of money (back then) and we would do dinner out beforehand, so even more $$$. Did it help business?, not so much but when we were good, I had so many guys rooting for the Johnnies I didn't really care. We had a blast. When the Garden was pulsing and the Johnnies were winning it was a great time.
When we sucked and I was down to 6 then 4 tickets and I could beg and couldn't get people to come. I surrendered the package in 2010 at the end of the Norm era. I should have gotten rid of them at the beginning of the Norm era. Funny thing is I began by buying my season tickets in the late 80's direct from the Garden and was treated very nicely by them. Eventually, I decided to switch to buying the package through the school and even joined the Red White Club but wasn't treated as well as the Garden treated me. 10 Season tickets (even the half package) brings in a lot of money.
The Highs were high, but the LOWS WERE VERY LOW. Sometimes I felt like it was just a crowd of me and Norm's friends and family. It was as quiet as a morgue.
Moral of the story: When we get to sustained excellence, we will get the casual college BB fan.
NYC is hungry for really good college BB but they haven't had that for a long time.
I'm banking on the same size crowd as the Michigan game, at that game we had a good crowd, but the team wasn't, this time it will be different.
114 will lead us on to victory. MJMJr will pull his shirt off, circle it over his head and whoop up the crowd off like in the 80's when we had Fanboy ( up in the stands) and Flag Boy (circling the Court) to get the crowd into it!!! {Those were days, my friend, I thought they'd never end}.
When Flag Boy circled the Court at MSG and the crowd counted the number of laps he made, what was the highest count?
If I remember 19 am I off by a lot?
