Providence got dropped from the AP25. Does the game still count as a Q1?
Feel like those Seton Hall wins always screw us somehow. Lol.

Plus if prov beats us the roof caves in again here.Really important to beat PC obviously, but especially so with Creighton at their place up next. To me Creighton in a packed environment is more daunting task than Nova.
Of course we can beat both teams, but let’s grab more winnable PC at MSG & then roll the dice w Creighton. Two out of three beating Nova, PC & dropping one in Omaha is not momentum breaking. Yeah I know a sweep is better
You don’t see a new “roll w the punches” poster attitude here?Plus if prov beats us the roof caves in again here.
I would love a road trip to their arenaDayton belongs in the Big East.
Other than Michigan, we had a chance to win every game and most people can notice the progress from month to month.Yeah that's right...nothing. Doing more than the past 20 teams would mean winning an Ncaa tournament game. They don't payout after 2 furlongs are run. We had a choppy out of conference followed by a good conference start. But there are 16 and a BE tournament to go. As a wise philosopher, my friend's father, once said: " don't tell me what you're gonna do...show me what you've done".
and we beat them soundly from start to finish by double digits - along with Xavier and Butler.Villanova is still a name that resonates.
I appreciate your passion and understand your frustration. I will say it cannot be understated how few fans of this program are probably left at this point. There has been at least a generation or two of missed opportunities to create new fans out of students with how terrible the program has been over the past nearly 25 years. Then couple that with the fact we probably lost a ton of fans who gave up on the program over the years with how terrible things have been.Oh please, if you're offended by die hard fans (along with your hall-of-fame coach) being pissed off that their fellow fans aren't coming to games you need a reality check. RIck Pitino has called out the awful attendance by the fans for the Boston College game at Barclays and UBS arena for Hofstra. The coach knows the kids need the crowd - so yes it is your choice to do whatever you please - but don't act like it is cool for the garden to be empty for this group.
No one is telling you how to live your life, being a fan means supporting the team, part of that is showing up and helping be the difference.
Sure there are many different ways to be a fan, but the point of this all is - this team has been GARBAGE for 20 years. Fans have been patient, now you finally are developing a winner, with a hall of fame coach, and it's still not enough to get 15k at MSG?
How are you or anyone interpreting anything I'm saying as not ultimately that is someone that is intentionally looking to be offended.
I certainly agree,The fanbase isn’t awful.Because other fan bases have seen a tournament win since 2001. Because other teams don't average 2 Ncaa bids a decade. Because other teams sniffed an Nit bid some point last 4 years. Everyone here, same as you, values home court advantage and don't favor fans disguised as empty seats. The fanbase isn't awful...the team is. P.S. Your podcast is tremendous. I love it. Thanks so much for doing it!
Agree with much of what you said. But honestly I get lots of comments on SJ gear on LI when I wear it. Lots of “go Johnnies!” & other comments. Nassau & Suffolk. Woman at coffee shop even commented on my hat saying her bf was a team manager when we got Rick. Hell, my doctor noticed my hat too!I appreciate your passion and understand your frustration. I've mentioned this before, but I NEVER see anyone wearing St Johns gear in the city. And I live in Manhattan and am out and about with my family every weekend and in the office for work. It's actually jarring to think about it. I often wear my st johns jerseys on the weekend and never even get a reaction.
So I say all that to say, in my opinion the fan base needs to be rebuilt and winning big time is the only cure. This team still hasn't won a tournament game since I've been a fan for over two decades. Think about that.
See that's my issue, I never go to Long IslandAgree with much of what you said. But honestly I get lots of comments on SJ gear on LI when I wear it. Lots of “go Johnnies!” & other comments. EMTs could come in handy with the average age of our fanbaseTypes of games like this, I wish we could flood seats with NYC police, fire, EMT, service workers as well as all high school kids on any sports teams at really low to no cost.
A few years back I took a young lady to a Dayton conference tournament game at the Barclays. She was a Dayton grad. Was very impressed with their band and fan base. She said their home games are events and I’m sure they are.Sitting in the arena in Charleston vs Dayton felt like a true road game. Their fan base is incredible.
Have to find a way to win this game. Period. Full stop.11 page pre-game thread full of analysis of ... Attendance.
I don't care about attendance. I'll be there, as I always am. Others will or won't, whatever they prefer.
SJU math is pretty straightforward - 5k regulars, another 5k who come if it's convenient or a good game, another 5k after that if it's a great game against an opponent who travels well. After that, when you're a top 10 team folks will come.
Right now it's about stacking wins. Can't take Providence lightly even with Hopkins out. Need the home W or the Nova road W is wasted. Think it will be a competitive game but one we should win. Looking forward to the tipoff ... Even if I'm the only one in the crowd.
In the Big East with Pitino, we’ll hold serve like Pete Sampras. As opposed to the underhand Michael Chang serves from the last few regimes.Have to find a way to win this game. Period. Full stop.
Soriano should have a decided edge inside, should be able to control the boards, and — if we can get into the high 70’s/low 80’s, as we’ve been doing lately — don’t think Providence can stay with us.
Let’s protect home court and keep the positive mo’ going.

Which aligns with what we know. Many of the biggest fans are getting older and moved to Florida. There are few young fans.I’m in south Florida and I get comments regularly.
