Providence Game

Someone posted on Facebook, who I assume was at the game, that he was embarrassed at the behavior of the Providence fans, specifically about rude comments.

Can anyone on this board who was at the game tell us what went on? If anything at all.

Their students were awful, just brutal.
Comments like:
Do you guys know how to read?
Those tatoos and haircuts are what thugs wear.
Lots of well to do white kids who really need to get out into the world.
 
Very glad we got a W. I didn't get a chance to watch the game, but was happy to see the outcome. Did we become a dead eye 3 ball team overnight? Hopefully that at least puts he thought we can shoot into future opponents heads.
 
Speaking of the fans, did anyone see during that dead ball on the sidelines in the 1st half, a providence fan sitting court side grabbed Harrison's hand and like pulled him? Harrison swatted him away and was looking for a ref to maybe give the guy a warning or throwing him out for trying to grab a player

They really shouldn't talk. Their team has had just as many problem players. Hell two of their players were charged sexual assault.

Lavin has beaten Cooley and providence for 3 recruits (Obekpa, Sampson, and Sanchez) so I can see why they hate us.

No batts or cotton to save them in this game

The biggest reason for other fans hating us is the #1 reason why we all still have hope this year and that's DLO. His overall appearance and that look he gives when he does something sweet on the court...that drives opposing fans nuts I'd imagine.

The biggest reason for other fans hating us is the #1 reason why we all still have hope this year and that's DLO. His overall appearance and that look he gives when he does something sweet on the court...that drives opposing fans nuts I'd imagine.

Very true, and I always go on opposing fans games before we play, so far, seton hall and butler fans have called him a thug, nova fans called him the same and punk, and providence fans called him a d**k last night.

DLo is the man, they can hate but at the end of the day it is only because he is so good and likes to talk.

Speaking of appearance, Amar Alibegovic had a great clean cut look last night. Great haircut and no tats but I am sure some Friars called him dork or doozer or worse.

Enough with the PG4 bashing. Has had his lows this season but that was his 2nd good game in a row. Solid player and a better guy. Sometimes he has been cold as ice this year but give credit where it is due. It wasn't luck.

I agree regarding the comments, but I think even for us St. John's fans it was an adjustment. When Harrison came here and his behavior was outrageous, more than a few of us commented on the tattoos. Now we love him as a player and person, and the tattoos don't even enter into our thought. "Do you guys know how to read" - was leveled at Ewing and co. a generation ago because they didn't fit the Gtown student profile. And we got over that too. So maybe we've evolved a bit too in how we think, and those PC kids (certainly Providence and not politically correct) need a little enlightenment too.

No, that was his first good game in a row. Versus Nova he shot 6 for 14 from the floor, 2 for 7 from 3 and turned the ball over 3 times. What we can be thankful for after last night's game is that PG4 finally has more points than shots for the year.

Here's a stat I meant to include elsewhere: points per shot

DH 1.4 - (40 % of shots are 3's)
RJ 1.2 - (29 %)
PG .99 - (40 %)
DP 1.3
CO 1.3
JB 1.2

Who should be shooting least? The guy who shoots the most. He's a no trick pony.
