Providence Game

A excellent WIN! Building the lead and then, withstanding the PC surge was impressive.

Our perimeter shooting stats speak for them selves and won us the game.. Greene, Harrison had great games. Pointer and Jordan had good games.. The Bench gets kudoes for contributing and makes you scratch your head why, they haven't been used before? But, Lavin still gives us many head scratching moments.

Some of my opinions in the game..

1. Pointer must never lead a break downcourt since his handle and himself are out of control.

2.CO must never try a dribble move to the hoop. it's not in his game. Yet or, Ever?

3. Greene shot well in this game. I dislike him having the ball in his hands so much and would give this job to Jordan. Phil wasted a lot of the shot clock throughout the game, with that incessant , unproductive dribble. There were more than a few times DLO wanted the rock out deep and phil had trouble getting it to him, with the FRIAR pressure.

4. Jordan's jumper is a tad below mediocre and he puts it up at crucial times, when DLO is a better percentage. He needs to improve his free throw shooting this year. He was better last year.
His game is just not what his credentials suggested they would be mid way thru his soph season. The potential is there but, no way he's NBA ready now.

5. Lavin decided to wear a decent shirt and perhaps will start a trend, now that the game was won.

6. Branch was sporting a huge Bandage on the sidelines. No telling when he comes back.Jordan has more impact because he's capable of scoring double digits, Branch usually doesn't reach that level.

ALL up, a good win and necessary to prevent the season slipping away. Another must win game against DePaul.

The Challenges remain for Lavin and this team going forward. Will we continue to shoot lights out again? Stay tuned. We must since we are not a good rebounding team offensively especially.

The win doesn't alleviate the body of work, of the Coach or, the ability of this team to get to the NCAA'S. It was a road BE WIN, which is always a plus.

This is a joke, right?

Sadly no. All of his posts, under his numerous handles, are also just as terrible. Just a horrendous all around poster, regardless of which screen name he is using.

It's hard to keep track of realfan and all of his screen names. They have a similar type of awfulness so I get them confused easily. I don't think westchesterjoe is realfan though so my bad. They are similar but at least westchesterjoe keeps it to one handle. Realfan has numerous handles, including the one I called out not too long ago in oldschool Redmen. He eventually gives himself away with his particular style, although he thinks he's fooling everyone. He is only fooling himself.

Back to the game, it was nice to hold off their rally and hold on for the win. Hopefully they use the confidence and momentum from the game and go on a nice run through the Big East conference.

he's not Realfan. I know what his other handle used to be but that's a long time ago.

Westchesterjoe is actually a real nice guy if you meet him. Met him when bigeastboards had their bar get together many years ago. Avon met him also

All of you crazy old bastards start to run together after a while. Realfan, Scotch, OldRed, you all suck and ruin the St. John's message boards with your crap. Must suck to be so old and have no life at all except to troll St. John's message boards with your inane rantings while pushing your agenda and creating multiple user names to pat yourself on the back. Absolutely pathetic and an example to everyone else of how to not grow old gracefully. At least you serve as an example of what not to be and give us someone to point at and laugh.

Nice try with your latest screen name but you completely exposed yourself yet again, as you always do. Thanks again for all the laughs!

So until you find me another scoring option, I am going to live with Greene taking a lot of shots, and also live with him having off nights, because he's shown capability to score on a team where scoring has been a problem at various points throughout the season. Nobody is claiming he is a sharpshooter or a great player, but he is someone that needs to take those shots and make those shots for us to have a chance to win in big east play

I'm going to live with him taking a lot of shots too, because I have no choice but to live with it, just like I lived with Bernard Rencher and Jason Buchanan taking a lot of bad shots. It's well outside my sphere of influence. That doesn't mean I'm not going to kill him for it. Because I am. If what you're saying is that Greene is the least worst alternative then sure, maybe he is. Personally I'd clear the side out for Pointer and Jordan 20 times a game because at least it would be entertaining - and by the numbers it'd be more efficient than Greene taking off balance fall away jumpers with his foot on the three point line. As usual YMMV.

Funny you should mention Bernard Rencher Fun! He had one of the most unorthodox forms on his shot that I can remember from a redmen guard. High arching and he shot as if in slow motion. On a personal level always a great guy and he married a st. John's girl who is also a wonderful alum and fan.

Hey, enough with the "crazy OLD bastard" names and discriminatory age references!
Quite a number of mods here that keep this site sane fall into that category.

There's a difference between an old bastard, a dirty ol' bastard and a crazy old bastard, no? ;)

Saw former Redmen, Jeff Allen at the game last night.

Mentioned last night how neat it was to see so much red there.
With the exodus of beecee and yukon, it's the only New England game left for SJU fans to attend.
Saw 3 guys in the student section wearing SJU gear.

Sour comment?

@CESPN1: Ed Cooley: "I don't think this is about St. John's. It was our lack of focus." #pcbb

A gracious coach would give credit to the other team---a la Norm.

he was a sore loser last year as well...he did the Boeheim/JTIII handshake last year as well when we beat them...

we were the clearly better team last night

Just a horrendous all around poster, regardless of which screen name he is using.

whats are the other screennames?

LOL Yeah I'm realfan huh? Keep thinking that jerky, who are you to me anyway?
You're just a nobody.
I made one comment in the seton hall thread "The next game is a must win."
And boom this pos thinks I'm real fan.

I guess atleast 50 usernames to you is realfanhuh? you paranoid clown.

I havent noticed if you are realfan or not but the word Jerky is a dead giveway for another old time poster from the bigeastboard days :)

Look Jerky, I can rebuild those starter motors too.
