Providence, Fri., Dec. 20, 8p, FOX

I think Carmine meant that whether or not Zuby’s shot went in, or Roach’s shot counted, we would still be the same team regardless. That those two shots don’t change the makeup of the team. And since the most recent event happens to be a great one in our favor, the feeling of most is very optimistic. And had we instead lost in overtime on Friday night in some terribly st John’s fashion, the tone would be closer to dread.

I know what he meant, but I think he's too busy watching Pittsburgh Panthers games/ACC hoops, and not actually watching our own games.

How can anyone watch us against Baylor and then say "We were no better or worse against" Georgia and Providence? We were clearly *MUCH* better against Baylor than in either of those other games. I'd also say UGA and Prov games, while on paper may seem similar, were also extremely different in many ways.
Carmine has his own way of looking at things. Suffering from long term Johnnie fan disorder but always entertaining.

Had fun with this episode, Kevin Connelly from StormThePaint.com joined me to recap the come from behind win. We discuss how this is a character defining win, one that tells you so much about the mental makeup of this team. Despite missed free throws, despite missed threes, despite being down 16 points on the road, they still found a way to win. Hear from an excited Rick Pitino, some questionable comments by Kim English, and how Kevin and I thought St. John's was still able to do so much good even though they played so poorly in the first half.

That's some deep analysis

Wow! Mase really gets me. No wonder I enjoy the podcast so.

Zach B noted “It’s no longer a small sample size, over a third of the season. St John’s is a second half team, outscoring the opposition by a whopping 131 points.”

Perhaps many times, SJU physicality and D wear some folks out? PC v SJ on Friday for example scored 42 in first period and 28 in second. As noted before, Smith seems more aggressive and productive in second half. I am sure there are other factors too.
Could be better coaching making better adjustments at the half.

Great podcast and recap. Great sitting next to you at the game. I think the crazy lady in front of you may still be yelling at you. Lol. Go johnnies
