Wanted to add this.  I forgot who the poster was but a suggestion was made about parking in the Home Depot Lot on Hempstead Tpke and walking to the UBS Arena in lieu of taking an Uber or paying $45 to park.  While it is not a bad hike to get to the beginning of the grounds of Belmont, you still have a lot further to go to get to the Arena itself.  The Belmont property is HUGE!!  In addition, the Home Depot property (used to be TSS and Great Eastern? when I was a kid) has several additional stores including a Target, Applebee's so the lot is pretty packed.

As far as walking in that part of Elmont, back many years ago as was alluded to in the post the area was I'd say not great.  Much better now however driving is another thing.  I've been assisting a relative and driving them around and there are these kids and young adults who are riding ATVs (which are not street legal) on Hempstead Turnpike and Elmont Road (and I am sure SUVs) who are a menace to traffic.  They are "popping wheelies" and riding with the front end in the air and doing tricks (which if at an exhibition wouldn't be at least entertaining but not while driving on a public street with other motorists).  The cops won't chase them because of their "pursuit guidelines" so they just are running rampant.

Lastly, there are some side streets in both Queens Village and Elmont near the arena that you could try to park also but not sure how things are round there.

Nice for him to say. Has Cuffe Jr. seen the court yet?

BC is pretty irrelevant now but boy there were some big rivalries and great games in the late 80's and into the 90's and Oughts.  Barros, Danya, Curley, and after I moved away Troy Bell and Craig Smith.
+Troy Murphy, Roger McGready(Xaverian), Michael Adams, etc. Those were some tough teams to play, and fun teams to watch.

Jay Murphy, Martin Clark, Bagley
And we shouldn't forget Scoonie Friggin' Penn, although his worst Redmen abuse was the non call after he transferred to OSU of course.

Those were the good old days of BC basketball. Michael Adams was the star the year they went to the elite eight and almost made it an all Big East Final Four.

The dirt bike/ATV thing has been a big issue within the city as well, in every borough.

Not sure how many of you have flexible schedules on Friday, but if I were able to attend I'd probably go for an early dinner at King Umberto's, leave my car somewhere around Meacham Ave. and Hepstead Turnpike, and Uber it. I'm sure the bus line is a straight shot too.

Not sure whatever became of St. Vincent de Paul, but if I were the new church there I'd severely undercut Belmont parking and make an easy $1,500 per event.

I thought it was no longer a Catholic church. I could be mistaken, though. For some reason I thought another denomination moved into the building.

AD has done a great job at getting students involved.  This game means a lot more than any other as enthusiam can be infectious or it can disappear.  A win tomorrow night will get students more involved as the season goes forward.

My family and I enjoy King Umberto's. There is usually parking in the street or the small lot across from the restaurant. I am not sure what I am going to do yet. $45.00 seems like robbery.

I went to see St Francis play Fordham last night and was charged $20.00 to park on Fordham's campus. Everyone is trying to hustle you nowadays. The shame of it is there were no more than 300 people at the game.

Anticipated attendance now approaching 11,000.   Very important for our future opportunities at a sparkling new arena.

Fyi, I drove past yesterday.   Almost overnight a new parking garage south of hempstead turnpike is going up, probably result in a lower cost parking option than emerald, which is near arena.   I hope all fans use the underpass. when nits done.    Lots of fatalities on hempstead turnpike

My  was for a dinner at King Umberto afterwards but the wife (who is meeting me at the arena as I will be in the city during the day) is also not happy paying $45 for parking.

St vincent depaul is still an rc church.  Sundays have a mass in malayalam for indian Catholics.   10% of india is catholic thanks to the missionary evangelization by jesuits hundreds of years ago.

You are right, though.  The lot is huge.  The parish is very diverse, which is great.  When my kids were small we'd take them there because father tom Hartman said sunday mass and he was amazing.
