Realize Boston College isn't a powerhouse but they do have a large alumni and student contingent living in the NY Metro area

Arguably, if the game was played at CA it would be sold out. A home and home would make sense IMO and FWIW.

Would also like us to seriously consider home and home games with Iona.

A game at CA vs Iona would definitely be sold out.

BC is pretty irrelevant now but boy there were some big rivalries and great games in the late 80's and into the 90's and Oughts.  Barros, Danya, Curley, and after I moved away Troy Bell and Craig Smith.

Anyone else concerned that there might be something wrong with Julian?  Last 3 games 2 for 15 from 3 and 8 for 14 from the free throw line.  I hope it is just a mini slump that he breaks out of against Kansas and not something physical.

Julian shot 5-27 from 3 the last four games of last season. Shooters get hot and cold. We need him to be hot on Friday.

+Troy Murphy, Roger McGready(Xaverian), Michael Adams, etc. Those were some tough teams to play, and fun teams to watch.

Iona is playing Delaware at UBS so no reason we couldn't play them there.

Sorry if already covered somewhere, but two questions:  (1) any word on whether Pinzon is expected to be ready to play on Friday; and (2) any insight into Coburn’s recent struggles?  With respect to the latter, he looked sooo good in the second game of the season, but has largely disappeared. I’m still holding out hope that he will return to something akin to that second game. I think he could be a key component to whether this is a special season.

Nothing definitive, but one thing to keep in mind with Coburn is that it was said that he had some level of modified schedule and perhaps have not always get in all the practice that others do.  If his academics are as demanding as noted, I can see this having some overall effect on performance and game time minutes if not at 100% sharpness.

Yes, meant Jay Murphy. Big lefty kid who could shoot. Think Troy played at Notre Dame. Bagley and Clark very good ballplayers as well.

When I used to live in Jersey and worked in Piscataway we went to one or two Rutgers games at the RAC every year as an after work outing. Still remember Troy Murphy (junior year) and Notre Dame coming in as a big favorite and Rutgers cleaning the Irish's clock by about 20 points. Rutgers had a kid named Rashod Kent who was about 6'6" and built like Charles Barkley who completely frustrated Murphy that night.

Not complaining or criticizing, but have we seen Fr. Shanley at any of the games yet this season? I haven't, but admittedly may have missed it. Have to think his attendance would be a good visual and show of support. Friday night might be a good time; he could take a walk thru the student/tailgaiting section.

yes he was at the St Peters game sitting courtside, I haven't seen him at other games but he may have been sitting in other areas

Boston College was as good a rival as any we had in the Big East.   Jay Murphy was a great college player maybe better than Bagley or Adams or Troy Bell.  He was their answer to Chris Mullin and could kill us almost single handedly.   I remember hearing that Murphy and Adams were in BC night school because they were both very weak academically and the school could keep them eligible.

They almost completely lost their identity in the Northeast by leaving for the ACC, which of course brought them a ton more money.

I'd like to see an annual game with them, but I suspect re-engaging the old big east teams to annual games helps them more than us.

I was dating a cousin of Dana Barros back in 1989.  She got tickets for the BC vs. St. John's game of the Big East Tournament.  Barros killed us and then I had to sit in the lobby of the team hotel with her family taking abuse about the loss, especially from his father who kept harping on a line Matt Burst was quoted in the paper as saying, "I'd would like to squash him like a bug", which I tried to explain it was a back handed compliment about how good he was and he somewhat small nature for basketball (5'11").  Went back with her for the next game and watched Gtown destroy them but he had a nice game.

Now back on topic.  Need to stay close to them and not let them build a big lead.  Hanging close we get more confident and they hopefully become frustrated.  Guys all need to bring their A game while not trying to do too much.

As for Julian's struggles, he did have surgery on his shooting wrist and that may be the cause of it.  It might be taking some time it to feel 100% right and might be affecting his release (touch).  I  have confidence he will breakout of it.

Hello Sal,

Yes, it arguably may help BC (or Iona) more than us however if "we" want to sell out CA for non-conference opponents we need to play teams that have a local fan base who would show up for a game at CA.

In addition, games vs BC (or Iona) would  arguably be worth the price of admission

Of all the teams that left the old Big East, I miss BC the most. While I was a student at St. John’s, my older brother attended BC law school. Naturally, we had several debates on basketball superiority, and ended up attending several games.
