This is another BIG GAME in St John’s BB history .         It’s a opportunity to ignite interest in our School,Team and Legacy .      To say anything but , a Victory is necessary is denial .                             A Defeat stalls the progress forward . Not enough to play well and Lose . We have had all too much of that in the last 20 years .                                        Sure the Mullin Coached team  that beat Duke and Villanova in the same week was impressive but , that didn’t translate into a great season .   This Game has that potential . Let’s Go Redmen!

I hope its time we live up to our aspirations.
The guy screaming his head off in section 104 will be me.  Stop by and say hello.

Not feeling very confidant about tonight. SJU has not played well. Not a secret.

Really stepping up in class. Team really needs to prove that it can step up. Not to us but to themselves. A win would really go a long way considering the competition. Guys need to step up. Here’s a chance.

Never a must win game when you are unranked and playing #8 or 9 team that was #3 2 weeks ago.

However, it's important to give them a game and play well.  Having  10k+ partisan fans including 1000 students will help.  What we really need are enough fans and students to give us home court advantage going forward.

An OOC game like this, or when we used to play Duke, includes no stress for me. If we win - it's great. If we lose its a loss against a team so highly rated that it has no negative effect. Just don't get blown out. Love to see the win, of course.

Bought some $25 dollar parking this morning, so I'm all set. For anyone looking to go to a spot before the game I add the following. I went to dinner with friends last night at The Harrison - which is right at the Floral Park train station. We had 6:30 reservations and the bar was packed and I realized there was a lot of Islander fans at the bar who were in the process of leaving for a 7:00 game. I rather just get to UBS as they have places in the arena, but I figured I would pass that along as I hadn't thought of The Harrison as a pre-UBS spot myself.

I like that Monte, I might do the same.

I did the 6pt teaser for -140. Johnnies +13 and over 150. $140 brings me back $240.

Gene I shoulda told you to do the opposite of whatever I do lol. I like your bet better.  The extra 2 points are worth the lesser payout. Good move. Hopefully we both win, and the Johnnies win the game. That would make for an awesome night

This is what will happen in tonight's Kansas / St. John's game:
  • We fall behind by 11-13 in the first half.
  • We get it to 9 by half time
  • We get to within 5 with 5 minutes left.
  • We lose by 8.
Mark it down.

I love how yesterday parking was $45 today it’s $25. WTF. I plan on leaving early. Hell I live on LI and this might be one of the last times I go to this rip-off palace. I know UBS isn’t involved but I’ll blame them anyway. I worked for them for 8 years so I’m allowed.

Is that $25 pre-paid (still ridiculous but better than $45).

I plan on bringing proof of vaccination as I think it is required.   I have not been to a venue that checks and can't imagine the process not causing entry delays.  Does anyone have any insight on this?

I've been to ten or so events that are doing this of various sizes up to 15K.  They will accept a picture of your card on your phone.  I have an album that includes only my vax card and my driver's license so we can flick though it fast..  If everyone is prepared it takes less time than the screening and ticket scanning so it shouldn't really hold things up much.

So do I. Bad first half to rile up the board and a furious comeback second half.

I think that this team will play up or down depending upon competition. Expect maximum effort tonight, and against the upper echelon of the Big East. Expect nail biters, or at least too close for comfort games against the dregs on the schedule.
That said, I have us winning outright tonight. Kansas won’t be intimidated by the atmosphere. They have played in many big games.  Watch for Posh, Smith and Coburn to outplay their backcourt. The experience of Smith and Coburn will come into play down the stretch.
Final score, 84 -77. Those that took SJU and the over will be celebrating.

_____________

Hey Porgyman ..... "From your mouth to God's ears".  Let's hope.

In my opinion the game will in large part come down to how the refs call the game.  If the players are allowed to bang it out and play physical then St. John's has a much better chance than if the refs call ticky tacky fouls and Posh and other get 2 fouls in the first 10 minutes of the game,

Game will probably be decided bu SJUs ability to make threes. They have been terrible lately but have been able to overcome the twenty per cent average vs weak opposition. I won’t call them cupcakes anymore because the talent level has narrowed significantly in the past twenty years between major and mid major personnel.
If SJU can either make a third of their threes or limit the number of attempts they could win tonight.
