20-50 in BE Conference games...
. Really ? Are we back to that ? Year 1 of the Mullin Era , contributed to a 1-17 season . Consensus was Mullin gets a pass for that season . Are you reneging on that Consensus ? We have won 20 games are currently . 500 in BE Play and everyone in the know has us going to the Dance . We have lost 2 BE games when injuries to our 2 best players were out .
30 games under .500 when the seaon started and it was supposed to change this year. Stop acting like the entire record is based on bad luck. It was supposed to change this year. They came into this year 30 games under .500 and are currently 30 games under .500. 20 wins implies all 20 games are equal. That is nonsense.

This was supposed to be the year especially in a year in which the conference is overwhelmingly mediocre.

Stop making excuses. They are 20-50 in conference, he owns it. Does he deserve to be fired? No. But 20-50 and 8-8 in 4 years is mediocre to bad at best. That is a fact. You can dress it up any way you like.

20-50 in BE Conference games...
Happy again after a loss. You show your true colors again.
20-50 is being happy...

This coming from the biggest fraud fan ever, a person who actively rooted against his "favorite" team for 6 years only to come back and pretend he never did anything...

I would comment on your colors but you literally change colors and contradict yourself every five minutes I have lost track of your positions.

Your posts have zero factual basis and complete self serving it's almost like you make things up....but I digress...

Have good night...
I’ve never been happy after a St. John’s loss.
You’re a miserable person and you have an awful lot to say behind a keyboard. I’ve been asking you to meet up and say it in person for 15 years but you never do.

Truth be told, the refs sucked. We need to be mentally stronger than anything they throw at us. Give credit to Naji and Xavier. Every time we got close, they hit a big shot or went to the line. We just could not get over the hump. Simon is in a slump. I'm not sure what is happening with Ponds. He is special but not imparting his will on the game right now. Playing way too passive. Obviously not having Heron hurts all around, but guys need to step up. We have to stop playing scared

What I should do is get banned from this board and go to another board and bas the staff everyday while pretending I am fan.

Then come back to this board and claim that I have been advocating that SJU should be Transfer U for years even though there is literally no evidence of that. Then claim that SJU has more upside than Marquette. Then claim that SJU is a mediocre team. Then say Ponds might be the best guard jn the country and then claim he will be playing in Europe.

Then claim SJU is going to go on a run like the 2011 UCONN team even though there actually is no comparison. I will just make it up. Then when it doesn't happen just say I was trying to be a good fan.

Then I will start a fight with a recruits mom on a message board because I evidently have nothing better to do.

If that makes me a true fan like yourself then consider it done. Just assume I did all of that.

I’ll just assume you are a very lonely man who is miserable in life and staring down 50 with with no hairline, testosterone, muscle tone, or friends.

We will make the tournament this season which was the goal for many. I don’t know what exactly you were asking for this season. Expecting us to run through the big east even in a down year was setting yourself up for disappointment. This roster is not as amazing as a lot of you think

Mullin isn’t the only Coach that believes Rebounding is a over rated stat . Lavin, on TV, has said the same thing on several occasions . That being said , maybe we need to accept the reality that our Personnel are not built to be a consistent BE rebounding team . We saw our guys battle hard underneath tonight but , it was noticeable that Xavier’s bigs were able to still control the Rebound , put back or slap out to another player . Our team is undersized in the BE . It’s a reality lived with all season . It’s not changing against much bigger opponents . And , many fans still talk about how our Talent should be enough to overcome nearly every other team . I don’t think our Team is superior in talent to most other BE opponents .!
I'll be the first to admit I was wrong on my season predictions but if my memory serves me correct didnt you also predict something like us winning the BET, winning at Duke, Sweet 16 and Mullin Big East coach of the year ?

Hopefully you are right on the BET and Sweet 16
. Don’t remember pre season saying we would win at Duke . But, I also predicted the Giants getting into the NFL Playoffs , the Yanks going to the World Series and Amazon coming to Long Islamd City . It was a pre- Season prediction and I bet if I cared to review all posters who made various comments about the coming Season , you would find wide disparity in many , not just mine . I also predicted Ponds as BE Player of the Year . It’s not going to happen either . It’s the way things have played out . But, we are going to the Dance and can still do damage in the BE tourney . And , even though it’s not in the standings , we have 9 wins in the Conference . The Seton Hall game was a stolen Victory and we have seen the awful officiating in the BE hurt us throughout this season . Tonight especially with the Refs out of Control from the first whistle . 33 free throw attempts to 5 for us , almost scream Unfair or worse but , that’s for League Administration to review .Scandals in College Basketball are not unheard of . But , often are swept under the rug . Like the Whitewash on the Recruting Crimes for some Major Conference Teams . I too, share the hope that still remains for more Victories in what’s left of our Season . I know you do too .

Was just gonna say similar. This was one of the most frustrating games I have ever seen recently. How we were only down 8 at the half was pretty amazing to me. We got hammered on the offensive boards but the thing that really sucked was it really seemed like EVERY second chance opportunity was cashed in by Xavier. Initially I thought the refs weren’t calling much on both teams early on. But clearly we got hosed by so many calls and non calls. I’m glad Mullin got the technical. It really was ridiculous. When we got the deficit down to 3 after a ponds layup and 1 ( he was fouled a lot harder 5 other times but somehow that one was called). Xavier calls timeout and scores. Every time we made a little run to cut back to 3,4,5 or 6 points Xavier answered. I give them credit. They played very well. But there was no way we were winning that game and the refs made sure of that.

As I said in the game thread. The only good that came out of this game was that I got to meet Paultzman. :)

That's true too. Seems like every loose ball or 50/50 rebound went their way. Also, at least 3 shooting fouls called on us with 1 second left on the shot clock. Just brutal. But, it boils down to hustle. They had more of it. If we are in better position, those breaks go our way. My best takeaway from this game is the energy that Roberts brought.

Got out of work late, was rushing and got a quick bite to eat with my friend. We knew we'd miss the first half but we were booking it on the LIE to make the game. Made it during half and caught the 2nd half (anyone see the handsome Lego men?). Apologies for those expecting Ric Flair, though he was a consideration.

Anyway, it doesn't make you a virtuous fan to hold back on slamming the refs when they really deserve to be slammed. Let me take a step back first, we lose this game either way clearly. We cannot rebound and Xavier repeatedly missed their first shots and then got the rebound automatically resulting in a back breaking 3 or easy layup. I think this happened 6 or 7 straight possessions for X or at least it felt like it. The rebound differential killed us. Now back to the refs...they were absolutely atrocious. They were frothing at the mouth to get us for anything and everything, especially Mullin. The refs HATE Mullin. They really do. He was about an inch outside of the coaching box which I was very close to so I noticed repeatedly. They harassed Mullin all game long...it's not that Mullin is out of control with the refs...it's that the refs are out of control with him and he has a proper response. He was ready to absolutely lose it if you focused on him. The "these refs suck" chant was deafening. 33 vs. 5 FT's is indicative of the fact that they pounded the paint more than us, but it wasn't nearly that lopsided in reality. The refs 100% took a dump all over us even if we would've lost anyway. How many T's have we gotten this season...20? Maybe Lavin had 5 all 5 years. They hate him.

Bright spots:

1. Trimble has a role on this team and played with great passion tonight. The next "Trimble transfer" thread I see I'm reporting to Mods. We need him.
2. Really like what I see from Roberts. Please give him more minutes.
3. The game ended.

You didn't even see the worst call of the night. In the first half, they gave Xavier a basket and 1, by calling a foul on Simon, when he literally backed away, and just gave him the two points (which, with our lack of depth, is not always a bad idea). That was the beginning of the 8-on-5 matchup that took place at CA tonight.

EDIT: This play actually took place during the first minute of the second half. Still, it was the beginning of the end.

Love to see Roberts contributing, but once again, another big guy in a red uniform that has trouble holding on to that slippery ball. What gives? Does anybody do fingertip pushups anymore?

Ponds flails his arms, Mullin complains to refs. Rinse, repeat.

Getting killed on the offensive boards wouldn't hurt so much if we actually got offensive boards ourselves. But we rarely have anyone even in the vicinity. Why? Coaching strategy, gotta get back on D. Comical.
