33-5 free throw disparity.
38-22 rebounding disparity.

This post just says it all.

I have said it before , this team plays with no sense of urgency and they don’t value every possession. They need to win one of the last two in order to guarantee a tournament bid. Let’s see how bad they want it.

What adjustments are you thinking about? it's basketball, and you need size or you lose. If we had 3 guys like Rick Mount and one like Freddy Brown, we could bomb away from 3 and outscore everyone. but we don't. We are an average shooting team with not one rim protector or rebounder. We can handle finesse teams because we have a bunch of athletes between 6'1 and 6'6 that excel in the open court. Take that away from us, and we are holeless in a half court game. Not enough depth, not enough size, and not enough firepower.
All good points. We clearly need more size. But our defensive scheme doesn't help. Too often, our guys who don't box out get pinned down low guarding bigger players and then get out rebounded. Clark doesn't box out. He should not be down low on defense. Trimble and Roberts box out. Figgy and Simon are good rebounders for their size despite inconsistent fundamentals. Before we think about fast breaking, we have to secure the rebound. We lose so many loose balls when guys start running down court before grabbing the ball. We should also mix in different zones to pull opponents away from the basket and try to find a combination that helps us protect our defensive board. I'm glad to see Roberts get some productive minutes today. We really need him.

It's really not about effort and coaching. It's about roster.

We lost this game last year when we failed to acquire someone who can body-up with Jones, Watson and Femi.

And if we had won that first Seton Hall game which we did, the situation would look much different right now. We all knew when it happened what that game meant.

Disappointed to say the least. X played team offense and defense while we did not. We rarely go inside thus few fouls on the opposing team. We are constantly not in position to rebound especially offensively. Ponds having the worst Big East season of his career here. Simon was playing lost with 6 turnovers and players and coaches collecting techs shows lack of emotional control. May as well start Roberts over Keita. We got the magic number 20 wins. Likely won't advance in either tourney we go to so play the players that may be back. I see little hope for Keita and Simon on next year's roster since neither is a dependable scorer. It's all been said a 100 times. No inside game. No consistent outside shooters. No depth when key players are injured. Too many spectator players in transfer mode. We will still root like hell but we've plucked this duck before.

As far as fan forums go, there are many arguments that can be made as to why we lost that game. Your statement is certainly one of those that are valid. Keep reading as this team is so flawed that there are many more arguments to be made.

Nahhhh Matt, Chris says not to worry about rebounding.
I wonder what was their 2nd chance pnts compared to ours.

What is annoying is this is a down year for X and supposedly our best team under Mullin. X with a player fro. New Jersey that outplayed our entire team.

We are not going to win many games where we are out rebounded by 16.
Stat of the night Keita 0 rebounds!
Played 11 minutes. Clark had 4 in 36 minutes.

I know he is not a polished player, but Earlington gets rebounds whenever he is in a game. Only played 2 minutes tonight , but did get a rebound.

Unfortunately there are only two things Marvin does well......shoot 3s and foul. Just not physically gifted as he appears.

I too would like to have seen more of Earlington.
Have to say that this is one of the most under-achieving SJU teams (to date) I have seen in my 50 plus years of following the Johnnies. Hope that changes before season ends, but haven't seen anything to give me confidence it will.
They're getting swept the last 2 games

It is our best team under Mullin. Xavier has had about 20+ years of sustained success and is coming off back to back years where they were excellent. As annoying as it may be to lose to Prov and X, wasn't it also nice to beat Marquette twice and Nova?

I don't care who we lose to per se. With this roster certain teams give us more problems than others and it has everything to do with matchups, not adjustments. I cared about us getting to 20, we got that. I care about us getting a few more and think we'll get that. I care about us getting to the dance for the first time in 3 years and it appears that will certainly happen. And once we are there I care about us getting a W for the first time in forever which would be awesome.

We need a bully. We don’t need 5 scorers on the court all the time. I want a good old fashioned bully in the paint. The guy that runs after the guy that knocks his player down. I would trade that for any one of our perimeter players.

What happened with the pressing defense. Coaches are bad with adjustments, both personnel and tactics.
