The same coach you said this about tonight while we trailed:
“Structured, well prepared, sharing ball team v polar opposite am sorry to say.”
Care to walk that back?
At the time I believed that, especially sharing ball comment. I did not think SJ could come back and was wrong. I am capable of owning what I say, unlike a certain hyperbolic, over the top, needy little man. Looking forward to your self imposed sabbatical post season “Coach”
Frankly, it was true. They were very disciplined at the start. And, we did start to panic at points as evidenced by some forced shots and obvious frustration.
The game is 40 minutes. Nova was bad in the second half and Wright didn’t do a thing to stop the avalanche. The announcers repeatedly remarked how disjointed the Nova offense was, how bad their body language was, and how many badly forced shots they had. It was Mullin with adjustments at half and the set plays out of the breaks. It was the Johnnies who were composed and heady.
Nova gets a certain kind of recruit that St. John’s isn’t privvy to on a consistent basis at this point. They bring in very skilled kids.
Agree and Mullin deserves credit. His kids don’t quit and rarely if ever lose confidence. Something that he does extremely well.
As a Giants fan Mullin’s demeanor in tight situations reminds me of Eli. Eli’s lack of emotion infuriates fans and both seasons be won the super bowl many fans wanted him replaced and Coughlin fired. But when the game is on the line and people freeze up, the the guys who can stay calm have a huge advantage. Mullin channels that energy to his guys and that is how we play our way back into to many games. I still don’t understand how we beat Gtown and VCU.
