(POST-GAME) Villanova (MSG), Sun., Feb. 17, 5p, FS-1 / 570 AM

Second half as good as the first was miserable. That is the preferred order if it has to be. And now we know where Simon's spot is on the floor.
The biggest part of the come back tonight was when Simon was on the bench.....please leave him there, he kills us when he plays, no defense cant shoot fouls, cant shoot anything except heaves at the end of the half. PLEASE LEAVE HIM ON THE BENCH !!!!!!
Simon’s defense was borderline incredible second half.

The same coach you said this about tonight while we trailed:

“Structured, well prepared, sharing ball team v polar opposite am sorry to say.”

Care to walk that back?
At the time I believed that, especially sharing ball comment. I did not think SJ could come back and was wrong. I am capable of owning what I say, unlike a certain hyperbolic, over the top, needy little man. Looking forward to your self imposed sabbatical post season “Coach”
My guess is you two won't be getting the families together for Easter dinner this year

False. Simon picked up his 4th foul at the 9:48 mark with Nova up 48-45.
He returned at the 4:04 with Nova up 57-55. He has obvious shortcomings but lets give credit where credit is due.

This game really felt like a Norm Roberts era game... down double digits before you could blink, play even the rest of the way, but never really in the game, outcome was determined. I also felt like it was a recruiting message that said “you don’t want to be here”. Words do not describe the weird mix of happiness and disbelief I am feeling.

On another note, regarding this thread, could we, as fans, collectively, be more dysfunctional?

Simon shot 4 for6 had 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists & one turnover. His shot at the end of the first half started our turn around. He only shot 4 for 9 from the line, but without him we lose!

For the past 20 years, these are the types of games we would routinely lose at the end. The 30 years prior to that, we would find a way to get the win. This felt like old times, even watching from home. A raucous MSG, a late game comeback against a very good team. After watching a lot of Nova this year, we did what is almost impossible to do: rattle them. All the credit to the second half effort, as everything was contested. I liked Mullin using pressure and traps to take Nova out of their game. Arguably the most important win in the past 4 years. Now it's time to go all out to the finish line.
Now we just need to get Ponds to bring back that one foot that he already has out the door and get him to mentally check back into the college game 100 percent. If that happens I can easily see a mini-tear and ruining the season of a few top-name teams in March.
He better hope the NBA scouts did not watch this game.

Thank you Ron and to add to your post his defense on Booth was spectacular.

Personal insults over a basketball game to someone several decades younger than you...really? And it wont be a sabbatical it’s permanent because I don’t want to be some pathetic old man who stalks boys and argues with guys in their 20s and 30s. Thanks for showing me what I don’t want to become.
Paultzman is one of our most respected posters. Your age related insults are reminiscent of another couple of posters who were overly pompous here and who obviously enjoy insulting each other more on Johnny Jungle where another expert specializes in telling fellow fans to FOAD.
You used to be good before your breakdown.

He's dropping, but there's still time to turn opinions around. Big finishes often have a way of doing that.

I would never insult someone over their age, it was actually quite the opposite. I would expect people with more life experience (and less testosterone) to be more even-keeled during games and above personal insults.

Nova learned two lessons tonight . 1 You live by the 3 and you die by the 3 . 2. When you are up by 19 you have to step on the opponents throat !!

Losing leads seems to be a theme in the conference this year. It’s almost easier to play from behind.

Really terrific comeback win. Flummoxed by first half but best half of season in second.

Great efforts by LJ, Heron and Simons in first half and defensively in second. Good minutes by Trimble defensively.

Despite a lot of blue in the arena the crowd was great once we got going. Nice show for the recruits Paultz indicated we’re in attendance.

The main problem for this team is and will be teams with bad match ups. That’s what I believe has led mostly to the inconsistency.

But we’re 3-1 and should be undefeated against the 2 top teams in conference.

Let’s hope for strong second half and run.

Very happy I took my leap of faith and bought Big East tickets for Thursday quarterfinals (and plane tickets) after the Butler win. Not too worried about playing on Wednesday after tonight...
