The same coach you said this about tonight while we trailed:

“Structured, well prepared, sharing ball team v polar opposite am sorry to say.”

Care to walk that back?
At the time I believed that, especially sharing ball comment. I did not think SJ could come back and was wrong. I am capable of owning what I say, unlike a certain hyperbolic, over the top, needy little man. Looking forward to your self imposed sabbatical post season “Coach”
Personal insults over a basketball game to someone several decades younger than you...really? And it wont be a sabbatical it’s permanent because I don’t want to be some pathetic old man who stalks boys and argues with guys in their 20s and 30s. Thanks for showing me what I don’t want to become.
Paultzman is one of our most respected posters. Your age related insults are reminiscent of another couple of posters who were overly pompous here and who obviously enjoy insulting each other more on Johnny Jungle where another expert specializes in telling fellow fans to FOAD.
You used to be good before your breakdown.
I would never insult someone over their age, it was actually quite the opposite. I would expect people with more life experience (and less testosterone) to be more even-keeled during games and above personal insults.
Then you must be a southern Baptist who speaks in tongues when you alluded to Paultzman in this exchange " I don’t want to be some pathetic old man who stalks boys and argues with guys in their 20s and 30s. Thanks for showing me what I don’t want to become".
Having less life experience you obviously don't realize that Viagara has become the great equalizer in the battle of testosterone. We would be HARD pressed to remain even keeled in such a HARD fought win.

Could be, but all I know is I am very glad I decided to come north for the BE tourney. Aside from being excited to see us win in Thursday quarterfinals and have a Bronx Pale Ale with Section 114 gang, I get to visit my 3 daughters in NY/NJ.
For the kenpom experts out there, what was our probability of winning after trailing 29-10?
Not Kenpom but when we were down 29-10 ESPN probability machine gave Villanova a 95.7 percent chance of winning.
Figueroa played one of the best 20-minute stretches of anyone I’ve ever seen at St. John’s in the second half. Wow. When I say he was the best player on the floor I mean it wasn’t even close.
We have had a lot of great players and a lot of players with great heart. Hard to believe anyone has any more heart than a LJ.

The Garden felt like old times. Felt like I needed a defribalator in the last 3 minutes

I haven’t had a chance to read through the thread yet (which I will do), but I’ve been thinking about where this ranks amongst other big wins that I can remember. I honestly just have come up with a single comparable win — (ie, when the Johnnies appeared close to being totally blown-out but somehow came back to win the game), 85-‘86 Big East Conference Championship game against ‘Cuse. In that one, the first half looked similarly hopeless, but the team slowly crept back in the second half — and eventually won it on Ron Rowan’s corner jumper and Walter Berry’s block of the Pearl. There was more late drama in that one, but coming back from similar holes gives rise to similar feelings of exhaustion and admiration for showing of pure heart and grit. Way to go guys, a huge, huge win!!!! (Just hope it’s not followed with laying of egg as happened that year — with loss to Auburn in second round of NCAA tourney).

When we were down 29-10 in the first half, we looked listless and disinterested. Honestly, I'd didn't think this team had the resiliency to fight back the way they did to win going away. especially when our best player had an off night.

LJ was outstanding, Heron has really been rounding into form the past few games and Simon was exceptional on defense.

Kudos to our team and coaching staff for pulling together at crunch time. This game reminded me of the wars we used to have in the "old" Big East. To beat the top 2 teams in our league a combined 3 out of 4 games tells me that nobody is looking forward to playing St John's in the Big East or NCAA tournament. When we play with intensity and enthusiasm, we can play with just about anyone.

On to Providence!!!!!

And, if at that point, you bet on Nova and got 5 points...

You still lost! - WW

assuming you took this after the game cause i cant imagine anyone giving a thumbs up after the first half lol

I don’t know if what I posted would be considered a shot, but when you have a guy as hot as Figueroa, he HAS to get the ball every possession. Whoever else is taking a shot, especially a bad one, needs to hear so.
Whenever we do bad, it’s the staff. Whenever we do well, it’s the players. That’s just childish.

Wright failed to make any adjustments in the second half.
I thought the difference was the fact that we finally started to play with intensity on defense and, more importantly, limited them to one shot. LJ was a Beast,

Becoming almost expected for announcers to say how much they love him.

Two things, great comeback for a post season signature win and next year looks bright with Figueroa. The boys showed great heart and determination after 15 minutes that nearly made me quit watching. Very happy for all involved.
Great to see the board upbeat!!!
funny thing is, that it barely is upbeat. We could win the national championship and we'd all still be taking shots at one another lmao

At 29-10 I was getting nightmares of the Georgetown game back in the Mullin years. Think we were down 35-9.

Told my buddy to go get the car and warm it up. Lol
Playing in CA gives SJU a bigger home court advantage and it is more convenient for most fans to get to but it is the minor leagues compared to MSG. Cragg is absolutely right that MSG is needed for recruitment and to get the city behind the team.
And tomorrow's newspaper coverage is just another bonus.
It was overwhelmingly Red. NYC getting behind the Johnnies

Team plays to the level of the opponent. Amazing win and great second half. Hopefully LJ doesnt test the waters he might not be back if he does. Lets keep it going.
Looking at rebounding and shooting stats tonight, they were very close. We won this game at foul line, we both shot 75%, but we took 9 more foul shots.
And, yet, we stunk from the FT line for most of the game. But, came up big down the stretch when it counted.
