Seton Hall is a tough team and had a lot of help before the last 4 seconds. We deserved to win for a simple reason - we won. LJF stoke the ball and tapped it to Heron. The game was over. LJF also had a big block on Powell. Just because the nonsense after that happened doesn’t mean SJU did not make those plays at crunch time.
Need I remind you guys how we beat VCU? What goes around comes around. We lost because we played schoolyard ball the entire second half and missed 3 opportunities to close the game out. 1. Clark moving pick with a chance to go up 2 possessions. 2 and 3. Heron and ponds free throws.

One of the worst St. John’s losses in a longgg Time. Don’t know what to even say right now
A foul call is subjective.

Agreed, there has to be a way to protest the game. The new AD should be on the phone with Val Ackerman right now. I don’t think we rebound from this so quick. This feeling like deja vu all over again from last season. Key guy injured not coming back . Start out losing conference games. If Nzei did what he did, Theo John will kill us

All fine. Then don’t have review which I would be very pleased with. Because it that is still Seton Hall ball replay is useless.
We blew enough of the game ourselves but that last call from where we were sitting could be one of the all time worst I have ever seen. The literally stole it from us on that call
—————

Your belief of how StJohn’s got hosed in the final 4 seconds of the game will be confirmed when you watch the slow motion replay of LJ making a terrific play by tipping the inbounds play and throwing it back in bounds to a StJohn’s player (without coming close to stepping out of bounds) only to have the incompetent ref blow his wistle to stop the play. Un-fing believable.

Yeah, StJohn’s shot itself in the foot during the last 5 minutes of the game but that does not negate the fact that after LJ’s defensive play StJohns should have had possession of the ball wih 3.1 seconds remaining on the game clock. We got screwed by an incompetent referee.

I get it, we were horrendous down the stretch, but we only lost the game because of an awful call. LJF made an incredible defensive play and Seton Hall was rewarded with a win. No matter how poorly anyone thinks we played, it should be a win, not a loss. That’s a big deal.

problem really is live ponds die by ponds, tonight we died, just hope we live about 11 more times this year!

I didn’t see the game BUT ont look at the Seton Hall board and it is unanmously a gift. Everyone is saying it was a horrible call...sux!

Apparently hero ball is encouraged by the staff. No need to turn on Ponds. Those same shots went in against Bowling Green, Cal, VCU and Ga. Tech. Otherwise those games would be L's as well. Up 69-59 with 6 minutes to play, staff has no issues with Simon taking very poor shots early in the shot clock. "Mindless Basketball" as Donny Marshall calls it. The refs blew the call at the end of the game, but we deserved to lose.

Being at the game, those last 10 minutes were awful to sit through.

I dont care about the bad call. This team blew a 10 point lead.

Ponds hero ball was really bad. Why not drive to lane ? Ughh...

If Mullin and Mitch attacked the refs after that call and our program got our entire season suspended I would have applauded them just for attacking them and beating the shit out if those refs. I haven’t been this angry since Billy Singleton call in the NCAA

Personally I think Seton Hall are shit. Not the least bit impressed but think the combination of our complete lack of interior presence on defense coupled with stagnant offense and the worse officiating call I have seen in a long time gave them the W.

Yeah, we choked, but even though we choked, if the refs didn't gift wrap this game, we probably win.

I'm so pissed, but not gonna bitch, or whine, or curse.
I'll just say g'night.

Must win Tuesday.

Theo John is averaging 6 pts and 4 reb per game. Not sure why he would even be brought up?

Stop all the f’in whining about the refs. We handed them the game. 7 minutes of stupid one on one ball with zero points. Ponds and Heron both miss rhe front end of one and ones in the last minute. Clark with stupid moving pick foul. Fig with no touches down the stretch because Ponds and Heron want to play hero ball. I could go on. Of all the reasons we lost, and there were many, the refs were the least of the reasons.
The missed call was so egregious that it just infuriated me, but your comments are spot on Monte.
I think I was so furious at our guys for the previous 8 minutes, that what the refs did to us at the end almost seemed secondary to me. We didn’t deserve to win.

I agree totally. But with some coaching from the 6minute mark till the Clark 3 we would have never been in that position.I am very positive on Coach but he had a bad 4-5 minute stretch. This loss falls on him.

They drove to the basket and we took three pointers in the last five minutes. Redmanwest was 100 % right - the ref anticipated Fiqueroa stepping out of bounds. Bullshit the clock didn't start.

It was a foul and you know it. My point is everyone gets screwed by refs sometimes. Earlier this year to our advantage, and now not so much.

It’s unfortunate call. No doubt upsetting. I’d much rather focus on why that game got to that point. Because it wasn’t pretty

EXACTLY!!!! That call might be the difference between the NCAA or the NIT>

I'm not buying all this nonsense how we deserved to lose. The refs completely screwed that last call, which ultimately cost us the game. They have a job to do and blatantly fucked it up there.
