No excuse for that play was right in front of ref. He anticipated LJ being out of bounds which is ridiculous.
I think they came up with clock thing because they knew they screwed up and no way to fix
Stop all the f’in whining about the refs. We handed them the game. 7 minutes of stupid one on one ball with zero points. Ponds and Heron both miss rhe front end of one and ones in the last minute. Clark with stupid moving pick foul. Fig with no touches down the stretch because Ponds and Heron want to play hero ball. I could go on. Of all the reasons we lost, and there were many, the refs were the least of the reasons.
The missed call was so egregious that it just infuriated me, but your comments are spot on Monte.

Agree with all your points but the refs were literally the reason we lost. Or at least the clock operator was. Heron had a runaway layup. Game was over. That was taken away by bad officiating.

Ugh. Gave that to them. Then that’s bs what the refs did at the end.
\

Yes the refs blew the call terrible by the refs. However, that game was lost by coaching. WE did not have any offense until we ran the play for Clark on the 3 and isolated Heron on the elbow. From the 6min mark till the Clark 3 our offense was pathetic. Kids where never put in a position to succeed. This game falls on coaching.
My gave that comment was we gave it to them. And then that’s bs about the refs call

I am not sure if they had a timeout but the lengthy "which way did he go review" let SH design another play. First one didn't work so....
Seton Hall is a tough team and had a lot of help before the last 4 seconds. We deserved to win for a simple reason - we won. LJF stoke the ball and tapped it to Heron. The game was over. LJF also had a big block on Powell. Just because the nonsense after that happened doesn’t mean SJU did not make those plays at crunch time.
Need I remind you guys how we beat VCU? What goes around comes around. We lost because we played schoolyard ball the entire second half and missed 3 opportunities to close the game out. 1. Clark moving pick with a chance to go up 2 possessions. 2 and 3. Heron and ponds free throws.

One of the worst St. John’s losses in a longgg Time. Don’t know what to even say right now

We paid for the ref incorrectly blowing the whistle. Since two players were not involved, they could not give the ball to us after the bad whistle. The rule needs to be changed!

Can it not be both? Of course we played like shit down the stretch, but truth is, the absolute truth is, we did enough to win. LJ made a game winning defensive play and an even better play to keep it in bounds. Fuck that ref and fuck the rules that say you can change an out of bounds call but only when it involves two players. Refs can take hours to review calls but still can’t be given the opportunity to correct their horrendous mistakes.

Remember when we were kids , and saturday morning tv had wrestling where the ref never noticed the corner men hitting the opposing wrestler with a folding chair. Well , I'm beginning to believe those wrestling matches had more credibility than NCAA basketball.

Exactly

On the money post. No one to blame but ourselves.

I would have walked my team off the court with 3.1 seconds and waited for a league ruling. How could you award the ball to SH.

Worst game I ever saw Ponds play. They settled at end with tired legs and stopped attacking after 2 straight Heron charges

SH was out of time outs.

It doesn't matter how bad we played down the stretch, that call made no sense. Every possession matters, right?

Agree with Monte. And others who have said that while the refs were the most proximate cause for this horrendous loss, we never should have put ourselves in the position to get jobbed in the first place.

This game should have been put away long before the fatal error.

And I agree with those who said the refs erred in blowing the whistle because he anticipated LJ being OOB and wasn’t.
