“I thought he [Josh Roberts] did a great job. He brought great energy” - Mullin #SJUBB

“I don’t think he should have been the only one playing with that energy”

What motivates these guys then? Just beat Marquette in tough road game & they did not play with energy according to Chris?? Don’t get it.
Chris sounds dumbfounded...just like the rest of us.

Just watched this, as was unable to be there in person- thankfully, it turns out.
Our absolute lack of rebounding was just painful to watch. No energy, no fast breaks... no nothing. With Heron out, Clark and Simon can't go MIA, as Lappas said.
Cannot understand the lack of energy. Roberts was the sole bright spot, but we need the first stringers to step up.
Man, this team is confounding.

Felt like a waste going to the game today and left with about 7 minutes left. It was obvious what our fate was going to be. Last year and prior all we heard was that the fans never come out and if they did we'd go on a huge streak. Well, the fans have been as good as anyone could have expected...probably better and look where we are. It's not the talent...it's not the fans...what else can it be other than coaching? I'm sick of posters like Jack and I saying things like "it would be a very SJ type thing to do to lose vs. PC after winning vs. Marq" and then being called "negative". It's not negative when it's the truth. What in the hell happened to Heron? I never saw him injured at any point against Marquette and a bruise is not an injury. A bruise is when you bump into the wall while sleeping and have a black and blue. I'm no doctor, but something doesn't add up. The staff told us it was a bruise so that's what I'm going off. Some people saying he was limping...my question is how? What is it with the mysterious nature of our injuries? Just come out and say he's out 2 weeks if that's the case. Enough of the vague BS. Mullin didn't even say which knee it was leading more to speculate that it's a misdirection.

What's to get? They're a joke of a joke, I guess they don't give 2 s* if they make it or not.
If they did then wouldn't they come hard every damn game?
If I'm Chris I send the whole damn starting 5 a message. Start: Roberts, William, Trimble, Earlington, and a walkon.
Keep them in until the under 16minute timeout.

That's suicide right? Well they gotta be sent A FREAKING MESSAGE.
I know most coaches wouldn't have the guts to do that, but I would, it lets them all know: " I do not give a crap who you are, if you don't play hard then you will get benched. Wanna call my bluff? Then go ahead and F around, and see what happens.
I'd be crazy enough to start the whole bench.

There are several reasons why we lost today. Here's another one you may not want to hear......

We miss Tariq Owens. Not only would he be our best big, he was a guy that brought contagious energy to every game.

Energy is an important word with this team.

They lack it often. Especially at MSG. They seem lazy out there, half asleep. Big crowd on hand that wanted to get into it.

It’s funny you mention Tariq because the one moment the garden came close to exploding was when Roberts had a very “Owens-like” double block and then LJ hit what appeared to be an and one on the other end to tie the game.

They called a charge. If it was called a block, I really think we ride that momentum and it’s a completely different game

It's also now four games that Dixon would have gotten major playing time in, had he stayed. Depaul, Creighton, Marquette, and this one. We were fortunate to win two of them, but the Dixon loss has hurt, even if he was not playing great.

It’s just interesting when you compare how we came out against Marquette versus how we came out today.

The energy we had on defense at MU was outstanding from the opening tip. As Paultz said, it’s just such a head scratcher that this team doesn’t bring that kind of energy to home games at MSG in front of a huge crowd

Dixon would’ve been eaten alive today

Dixon would have been swallowed up in most of these conference games.

Cooley wisely made it a rock fight game. One of our best rock guys was injured on the bench. End of story.

Coach is responsible for team not be ready or enthusiastic.

Listen I’m not happy with the job mullin is doing but at some point these guys gotta come out and play hard in a game where their backs aren’t against the wall.

Everytime we are one loss away from really falling apart, they show up. Then we get a nice win and some momentum, and we come out flat. Watch after this tough loss today we will come out and blow the doors off butler Tuesday. Then the cycle will probably repeat itself against nova at msg
He couldnt play any worse than Simon....at least Dixon can shoot.
Did you watch the game today, we couldn’t get anyone open. Even Clark who is big enough to shoot over people, couldn’t get a legitimate look from 3. In what world is Dixon even getting a shot off? and that’s not even taking into account the other end of the ball, where they would’ve switched him onto Watson and it would’ve been “BBQ chicken time” as Shaq says

That should have been a "play on", IMO.

We can't have a tightly called game, because we will lose guys to foul trouble. Unfortunately, we also can't have a game that is totally called fast and loose, because fatigue sets in, and we tire out.

We need the games to be called almost perfectly to have a chance. If you've been watching this sport, you know that the odds on that are close to impossible.

FTR, we didn't lose today because of the refs. This is just something I'm talking about in general, WRT our team.

How can Keita not get one rebound in 20 minutes?
How can Simon and Clark not score a single point in the first half?
Mind boggling!!

Ten balls hit his hands.
