(POST-GAME) Providence (MSG), Sat. Feb. 9, Noon, CBS SN, 570AM
Yea, Simon and Clark not Simon and Garfunkel
Where have you gone Mrs. Robinson.....
In CT
Didn’t follow game
An L?
So disappointing
But what happened w Heron?
Thanks!

The teams from three to ten in the big east are so evenly matched that no one is good enough to go a winning streak and finish above 500 and no one is bad enough to go on a losing streak unless an injury to an important player like Heron keeps that player out for an extended period.
Most likely that will take turns from game to game getting their fans hopes up after one game and then down the next.
I love this board. When we play great against Marquette, everyone is in love with this team. Then we lay an egg against Providence and, all of a sudden, we're terrible, we suck, etc.

Like my golf game, this team is consistently inconsistent. We laid an egg today, pure and simple. No energy, poor effort. No excuses. Apparently, we don't have any leaders that can push the button to get these guys to play. Maybe they need to have a players only meeting before every game.

The one shining light was the play of Roberts. He played with energy and enthusiasm and made a nice contribution. I only wish that he and Williams had been given more playing time during the non conference schedule so that they would be better prepared to contribute during the league season.

This is clearly a Jekyll and Hyde team. It wouldn't shock me at all if we came out flying Tuesday night against Butler at CA.
Mark, no one can predict this team. They fall @ MSG, a game that you thought they needed before going on that brutal road trip, but then they win the 2 conf road games. Now you're gonna play 5 of 6 at home, get some home cooking going, but what happens? They looked like they couldn't care less @MSG, with 17K+ watching, and a 3-7 team coming in. They were down as much 16 and lose by 14 to a freaking 3-7 team, and are now 0-2 @ MSG.
THEY'RE A JOKE.

Final comment: Hour glass moving quickly & Johnnies continue to squander opportunities. Can they go 5-2 down stretch? Hope so, but how can one be confident about that?

If nothing else, that will make for an exciting Big East Tournament at MSG. Even if a Nova/Marquette final is inevitable, there should be some exciting games on Wednesday and Thursday, at least.
Gotta wonder, based on how Heron looked, if the injury is not a serious one. Not an excuse, but that would explain why the team came out flat. Would be a huge blow.
One guy hurt explains why they came out flat? lol Just stop it.
The whole damn team needs to step up, cut the bull.

Everyone needs to hold themselves accountable for this shit show today.

The lone bright spot on this game was seeing what Roberts is capable of. He has a nose for the ball on misse shots and he has some serious physical potential. Hopefully his skills can catchup.

I am going to try not think about this team until Tuesday’s game. It will be what it will be.

They can't!

Well you have to assume we lose @PC because man they are a horrible matchup for us.

Went to the game today with some family members and wow what a terrible experience. Other than Roberts giving some good minutes there wasn’t a single thing to be happy about today.

This was a huge game and the team came out flat. When a team really takes it to us defensively you start to see how poorly coached we are.

If we make the tournament, you have to hope we get matched up with a Wisconsin type team that we can run circles around at athletically. Because if we run into any team that matches our quickness, we become a painfully average team. There’s a reason our two signature wins are against Marquette

Lappas is really bad. Hard to listen to. Mullin spent way too much time complaining to the Officials, instead of coaching his team. What the hell happened to Clarke and Simon?

And I am tired of hearing about clark on any other team in the big east he would be a bench player he hits a 3 now and then Defensemis average fouls to match and not a good rebounder for his size can’t wait until next yr to see if we can finally bring in a real good team

Next year will be worse without Ponds. Also, the BE will be stronger and we in all likelihood will have the same coaching staff. The future does not look bright.

Also, my entire row in 108 was Providence fans, there was a ton of them at the game. MSG is fun, and not a new problem, but something all SJU teams have to deal with that other college teams do not.

As much as the team stunk it still had to be tough hearing chants for the visitors team in your supposed home. Where else would that happen?

Also wow, providence was as advertised on offense. All you have to do is not foul and make them hit shots, they can’t.

Their “star” Diallo was 3-12 from the field and they won easily. That should never happen

When a starter goes down for a game, all the hard work the coaching staff has done for the last few years pays off with a deep bench. lol.

Mullin;
“I thought he [Josh Roberts] did a great job. He brought great energy” - Mullin #SJUBB

“I don’t think he should have been the only one playing with that energy”

What motivates these guys then? Just beat Marquette in tough road game & they did not play with energy according to Chris?? Don’t get it.

Knee hurt in Marquette game.

I think the pre season predictions of BE Coaches that we are a 4 th Place or 5 th place Team are about right . And , since we live in a World of Propaganda , notice how every opponent Coach, nearly every Announcer hypes our Talent and Athleticism . It’s all for nought . I don’t think we have any more talent than any other team in the BE. Even , we as fans have bought into the hype . The duo of Clark and Simon as 2 Nd Year Transfer Players , from highly regarded programs , should be giving us a lot more Results than they have shown . They scored 10 points between them today . That’s not BE contribution from 2 starters . Simon regressed to his pre Marquette game today . Clark has been MIA for weeks now . Is the Ponds first and foremost game plan bothering them ? It shouldn’t they both are getting enough shots but, not making them .

I’m in 108 also. I’ve noticed lots of opponent fans in our section which leads me to believe that there aren’t too many season ticket holders. But, at least we have the firemen, who always give opposing fans tons of grief!
