With all this talk about OOC schedule, which we cant change, the fact remains if we go 9-2 OOC and 12-8 in BE we will dance and it wont even be close. Whether or not we will do that is certainly debatable, but it is something team can control so let's focus on winning those games

The good news is the Colgate and Monmouth games have become decent OOC games now.  But we need to win both of those.

I truly believe the "we are looking past these crap teams" games are over now.  Well, outside of the Fordham game.

Posh said, "We came out lazy.  And warmed up the same way."

And there you have it folks.  These kids just did not give a crap about the last 3 games.  St Johns did these kids a disservice by not scheduling tougher comp these last 3 games.  These kids dont want to play these games.  They want to be challenged and play in big time basketball games.

Hopefully the university has learned its lesson and stops this crap moving forward.

MP I'm generally a positive and half full guy.  But watching other BE teams I’m concerned about the lack of cohesion and lack of leadership by our best player.   Also, few of the new guys have far underperformed.
I've watched every BE team play this year at least twice.  St. John's is easily better than Georgetown, DePaul, Butler, Creighton, and Providence.  Creighton is getting spanked right now by SIU Edwardsville.

I'd say UConn, Marquette, and Villanova are you top 3 right now.

Seton Hall, St. John's, Xavier are all in that next tier.  Seton Hall just barely avoided what would have been a terrible loss against a really bad Cal team.  Cal has been competing for worst P6 school for the last few years.

I think we just witnessed thinning the herd.  Wheeler and Stanley just lost minutes.

Pinzon becoming a legend just by sitting out.

Defense is deplorable.

Offense is ragged,  no detectable plan.

We supposedly have three 3 ballers,  Champy,  Smith,  Coburn.   Ya think we could set up a double screen to free one of them?  Errr no.  That would be a plan.

I agree we should  have had a slightly tougher OOC schedule, but not sure it's just a case of the kids being disinterested because of the level of comp. For starters, who on this team besides Posh and Champ aren't competing for PT? If nothing else, that's motivation for them all to be busting their asses. Anyhow we'll know soon enough if we're playing down to level of comp or if we're just not that good.

ESPN BPI predicts a 20-11 record with them making the tournament field with that record.

I don’t  think we’re clearly better than Creighton or Providence based on the games I’ve watched.  It may turn out that way but not certain.

Clearly a message was sent to Wheeler and Stanley tonight. Looks like Wusu will get starter minutes the rest of the way. We miss Pinzon as an extra ball handler. Lots to get sorted out but we need a big shooting night to compete against Kansas.

We were still up 10 with about six minutes to go. No excuse.

Are you serious???  Creighton has already lost to Colorado State, they could only put up 50 points against Kennasaw state, and I'm watching them right now getting beat by SIU Edwardsville, and I watched them only beat a Southern Illinois team that lost to UALR and Alcorn State by 2 points.

And I watched the Providence game today before the St. John's game, they struggled against a St. Peter's team we beat easily for 3/4 the game when their best player was out the majority of the time with foul trouble, they didn't put them away until the last few minutes of the game.  The score is very deceptive it was a very close game most of the way.

You basically just showed me you haven't actually watched either team play if you think they are better than the Johnnies right now.  No serious analyst or bracketologist has either of those teams ranked ahead of the St. John's.

Colorado state is ranked above us in Ken Pom and is 7-0. Providence beat Wisconsin. We could do the A beat B but lost to C stuff in every which direction. What has St. John’s showed you that makes them clearly better? And what would make it crazy for someone to think otherwise?

I’ve watched them all.  We’ll see.

And I’m one who thought we might be good enough to win conference, so maybe that backs up your assessment that I don’t  know what I’m watching.

It gives me no great pleasure to say it but I’m concerned.

As I said,  we’ll see.

This was arguably the worst game I’ve seen in the last 20 years! The 18 turnovers is something that needs to be addressed immediately! If not Kansas is going to run us out of the building! The lack of energy from the tip off was so evident. We need to understand that you have to play 2 halves of basketball in order to compete at this level! We also need to shoot the ball better  39% is not going to do it!

I explained my reasoning in my post lol.

And you brought up Kenpom to try to help your argument, yet he has Johnnies ranked ahead of both those schools.  Like I said, you won't find many analyst or bracketlogist that think either of those teams are better right now.

Also, please read what I say if you're going to try to call me out, I didn't call anyone crazy, I don't use that word to describe people in a sports argument, I feel like that crosses a line, so you are trying to put words in my mouth there, I asked him was he serious.  Because I can't believe anybody watched Creighton vs Kennesaw State and thought to themselves that team is better than St. John's.  That's just 2 cents.

Anyone who isn't somewhat concerned after watching the last 3 games isn't paying attention.
I do really like what I've seen from Wusu and Soriano and for the.most part Smith and Mathis. Champ is clearly pressing and Posh not completely healthy. Coburn and Wheeler big disappointments right now and if one of those 2 guys doesnt play better we will be no better than mid pack BE team.
