(POST GAME) (@MSG) Seton Hall, Sat., Jan. 22, 12 Noon, FS-1

I have been a supporter of CMA and agree with Panther2 that some of the threads on here are undeserved at this point in time and potentially counterproductive.  However, this is one game that we could have and should have won despite bad games from both Champ & Wusu and a so-so game from Posh, but for stubborn coaching imho.
We needed shooting with Champ's shot way off, were still right in it thanks to fine games from our 3 bigs and Hall gave us many chances to take it but Coach for whatever reason refused to put in Smith & Coburn and instead left Wusu & Mathis a collective 4-24 while bricking missed layup after missed layup. That kind of coaching needs to change if CMA is going to have success here imho.

You know Anderson's answer on Stanley will be "coaches decision"

Same answer he'd give for Coburn showing up for skeleton minutes while the rest of his team couldn't buy a basket

Have faithThe light switch will turn on soon.
Then we'll have them right where we want them in May.

Saddest part of this post is I doubt 80% of the team will even be here in May.

Agreed, our starting line up next year will be Pinzon, Storr, Wheeler, Soriano and Stanley.

There are a lot of long and very athletic bigs in the Big East, and Posh and Wusu are finding what works against smaller teams isn't working now. Their drives are not drawing fouls, and are being rejected or disrupted over and over. Our bigs are not high end athletes for a high major program. Champ is really having issues because he really can't take anyone off the dribble. The mid major transfers are finding out it's a lot tougher in the Big East.  While everyone is jumping on the coaching staff, CMA won a lot of games and is reigning B.E. COY.  He doesn't have the horses this year.  When people start blaming losses on the underuse of Smith and Coburn, and the absence of Pinzon,  there is a lot of desperation here.

Ray, their drives aren’t working because we have no shooters and so the lane is always packed with defenders. Smith and Coburn can at least shoot. If they hit a few, the defense will have to come out and guard them which in turn will open up the lane for more open drives to the hoop instead of always driving into three defenders who are just standing there waiting for it.

Was Pinzon even at the game?

CMA continues to coach like he did today he should have to buy a ticket.

Anderson recruited the players.  This is Year three of his regime.  It’s all on him!

Out rebounded, 60-43.

And what’s really telling is that a number of posters are lauding the play of our front court today.  That’s how bad they’ve been all year!

……… for the hundredth time I ask what does CMAs nephew do since he is not a valued recruiter ? Is he not supposed to be the Associate Head Coach ?

+ ditto

hey Aubie ….. have asked that same question but never received an adequate answer for someone with the lofty title of Associate Head Coach.

Recall that Mark Jarvis II received much scrutiny and criticism on this site when his Dad was the St. John’s Coach.  To his credit MJ II has earned a position on the Duke University basketball staff.

The fat lady officially squashed my NCAA hopes today.

Lack of accountability not a good look for MA.

Poor half court offense and poorer defensive rebounding is a lethal combination unless you’re playing Baruch or Miss Valley State.
