(POST GAME) (@MSG) Seton Hall, Sat., Jan. 22, 12 Noon, FS-1

CMA, like many coaches, is flawed and I know there will be another 100 or so posts in the "Is He the Right Guy" thread.  At this point he deserves it, however we really just don't have enough talent to compete.

Prior to the start of the season, I thought the board was immensely overrating Wusu.  I do like him, but in relation to other BE players, he is a nice (and unique) bench player. For us, he is playing 30 minutes and is one of two main ball handlers.

This summer there was also a debate about Montez Mathis.  We heard about his crippling defense and how he led Rutgers in scoring over the first few games.  Some posters wanted to bury the fact that he was ultimately relegated to little playing time and was an historically poor shooter.

Today, I thought Wusu hurt us and Mathis continues to be largely unproductive.  I am not big on Coburn, but I do think Smith should be playing much more (recall the Indiana game) and hopefully Pinzon will return soon.

The Myles Cale post game quote is scathing and that is squarely on CMA and staff.

Finally, we cannot continue to be out rebounded by such large numbers.  As I said once before, I wish we had a different deficiency.  Our problems in the paint have become a tiresome hallmark of this program.

We have had worse seasons, but this one sure is unenjoyable.  Hopefully they pull together and give us some excitement in the coming weeks.

Next 3 SHU, Nova and PC. If they want to make anything of this season they need to get 2 out of 3. Steal 1 between SHU and Nova on road and beat PC at home.

These types of posts have to stop.  We are not winning any of those games let alone 2 out of 3.
The season is over.  Get used to it.

I’m not letting CMA off the hook because we don’t have enough talent to compete as you say. If we don’t have enough talent to compete it’s because CMA and staff haven’t brought in enough talent. Therefore, this is all on him and his staff.

After the last 2 games of slop, most would highly doubt even getting one win.

If we as a board agree to stop these posts will you stop Drew Valentine posts?

Crazy as this sounds, I think we beat them Monday. Especially if Aiken is still out.

Myles Cale said "it's a little easier" to defend a star player when the opposition doesn't make you chase him around screens.

Well the good news is I don’t think we’ll have to hear about CMA’s streak of winning seasons after this year.  Sheesh!
The only people mentioning it are the three or four guys here who keep posting a variation of this post.

Guess you guys are either going to all the games in-person or muting your tv bc the announcers say it on almost every broadcast.

Did anybody hear the cale interview?  The only quote that’s attributed to him is “it’s a little easier.”  I suspect the question was a bit of a set up but I did not hear the interview

All these years of losing have taken there toll on me.
I tried not to respond negatively but I just can’t do it.
I am just tired of watching lousy basketball, lousy
coaching, lousy recruiting and the predictable lousy
results.  Why did we lose a whole team to transfers,
if they were happy they wouldn’t have left.  Why weren’t
they happy, I would have loved to give an exit interview.
I certainly would not have given an  extension that was
not deserved.

Announcers are given game notes from each school to speak to.  That's why they re-hash the same things over and over each telecast.  And yes of course the school is going to want it be known that their coach is in the same company of Tom Izzo and Mark Few.

In retrospect, the play of the game was the buzzer beating three at the end of the first half.   The fact that Willard used a full timeout at 0.6 seconds to both chart a play that was well executed, and to lobby for a clock reset speaks volumes about their team    I think that one play epitomized the afternoon and we weren't the same after that.

I believe they adjusted the clock up to something like 1.4 seconds. Unbelievable that we allowed a wide open 3 with so little time.
