Call me a homer or bias whatever I don't care, but the refs blatantly tried to give Marquette that game. Don't get me wrong we tried to give it away too many times, but the refs were in the bag.

How that wasn't over the back on that Marquette player with 3 seconds left was a joke. And then a jump ball called on Dunn when no Marquette player even had their hands on the ball... if the possession arrow was with Marquette that could've cost us the game. And don't even get me started on Wusu getting clipped by Theo John on that late layup, no call.

just a disgrace from the referee crew today
You have a legit argument.  Free throw descripency was huge 10 to 24.  Really 8 to 24 because 2 of those free throws were because of an intentional foul.  That missed called on Wusu was just embarassing, that's without a doubt a foul, especially with the way they were calling fouls when Marq players attacked the rim.

Also, something that was sketchy to me is when they went to the monitor to review for the first time, it was clear as day off of Marq and they took forever to make a call on it, then the 2nd replay they went to, it's Marq player over the back and it's really close and hard to tell who it's off of and they made the decesion in Marq super quick.

I pulled a muscle watching Dylan make that layup.
I was screaming for him to kick it back out, since it looked like Julian was open.

I still have trouble remembering that Posh and Wusu do not mind using the body to drive to the hoop, even against somewhat bigger players.  Even better is the fact that they are totally under control (usually) when they do this.

Poor free throw shooters need to look no further than Theo John.
52% from the line his prior 3 years, and 70% this year.
He shot them like Steph Curry against us. Hard work pays off.

Just to chime in I'm last person to blame refs but we got the short end of the whistle all game. Gritty gutty win by the good guys.

Very subtle plus; Earlington obviously has struggled lately, but when M'Q was crushing us inside in second half he made back to back strong defensive rebounds to stem tide. Sometimes little things make a difference

in a similar vein to that, I think senior citizens should also look no further than Theo John. 48 years in the big East and still going strong. Really has showed that anything is possible. They say he's graduating this year but I'll believe it when I see it

Ken, I shot 4,000+ FT's in the summer between Soph and Jr. years in high school and it didn't help. Hard work means nothing if you have no skill. /media/kunena/emoticons/sick.png

You don't have to tell Denzel Washington that Little Things make a big difference. Just saw his new movie on HBO MAX. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png/media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png

Remaining schedule:

Nova twice
PC twice
Xavier at home
Hall at home
Depaul at home
UCONN at home
Butler on the road

No reason to believe we can't go 5-4 (or atleast 4-5) with 6 left at home.  That would open up some intriguing postseason possibilities.

Did just enough to get the win, which is all I need them to do.  Great in conference road win.  3 road wins in a row if I am not mistaken.

Yep, first time since 2012-13 season.
Last time we won at least 4 was back in 1998-99 (when we won 5 in a row on the road)

You make a crucial point there. The first one was pretty clearly off of Theo John and they still took 10 minutes to look at it.

then the one off of St. John's, you literally had 3 different set of hands in the mix reaching for the ball. It was extremely close. They took no longer than 15 seconds before giving it to Marquette.

the other call I forgot to mention. We were up 3 late I think and their tall lefty freshman drove in and was completely out of control and hurled the ball at the rim. Foul on us. It was a baffling stretch of calls from the officials

How many did you make, Rich?   Just curious.   You must have gotten fouled an awful lot that summer   :)

SJU has a solid core of 9 players, 8 of whom will hopefully return next year. I would say things are looking up. Onl;y recuriting miss this year was Toro imho.
I keep expecting to see Champ pop up on draft board, kinda odd he's not coming up on any as of yet.  He's 6'8, has a decent handle, can shoot, and has a good B-Ball IQ.  His only weakness I see at the moment is his ball handling could be better and he's not really that quick, when you talk about being able to take his man off the dribble and get to the rim, however there's players I see in other conferences with identical attributes as Champ that are on draft boards and Champ is way more developed than they are.  If he keeps up developing at this rate, I don't see how he's not at the very least a high 2nd round pick after next year.  His brother is projected by one draft site as a 2nd rounder in next year's draft.

Looks more like 6'6 to me and as you say he is not really quick so might not translate well to NBA. I wouldn't bet against him though and will be rooting for him to make big bucks and have sucess in the NBA. Terrific college player and obviously at minimum will make nice living playing basketball.

Officialls were awful and they didn't help us.  We just played better.  Great overall game. Tons of grit.  We are playing very well.  Didn't give up and we have a nice core.  Let's keep it going.
