(POST-GAME) @Georgetown (CAP ONE), Sat. Jan. 5, 1p, CBS / 570AM

I was on the road and missed the entire 2nd half--after rooting hard for a comeback in a tough first half.
Kept badgering my wife to do me a big favor (every 5 minutes) and check the 'St. John's score'!
Thought it was lost when it was 84 - 81 with 32secs left in regulation.
After a maddening 10 minutes in a 'no reception zone', I asked her to just check 'the final' for sure, thinking maybe they pulled a miracle--not knowing any details.
She said it was 96 - 92 in O.T.
I flipped (!) and we kept checking score until the dwindling seconds and '97 - 94 FINAL' glowed from the cellphone!
Sorry, for the monologue!
Great win! I think and hope this is our year...again...finally.

Heron was playing real hard on defense giving up plenty of size. Given his size disadvantage against some guys he especially can not afford to pick up any cheap/reach fouls. The kid plays hard and has moments of brilliance on the offensive end.
I am happy for Trimble. He got to the foul line and made 2 free throws!!!!! Estatic!!!!
Nice job by Ian Eagle and Bill Raftery for giving him props for refining his body.
He had the thankless job of guarding Govan at times, way to BT!

Nothing Shamorie does surprises me. Since a friend close to Shamorie's game told me in his senior year of high school that we were getting a poor man's Isiah Thomas I have been singing his praises. A once in a lifetime guard at St. John's.

Had a good game if it were anyone else but Heron can play much better so we should be optimistic with regard to his game.

Happy for Trimble played well.

After all I’ve had to listen to 50 year old men yell and trash this kid at games this year at Carnesecca.

People need to remember these are kids , not getting paid shouldn’t be yelling at them saying “Trimble you suck get off the floor “

So proud of these kids - they keep plugging away and never give up
So proud of the coaching staff for keeping the guys together after the SH game
They deserve a lot of credit as well
I couldn't post until now - had to wait for my heart palpitations to stop
Who said the Big East is down this year?
Games will be as exciting and competitive as ever
On to Nova - WE ARE.................. ST JOHN'S!!!!!

The team, himself and coaching staff need to find ways to prevent foul trouble. If he stays out of foul trouble he will become even a more consistent offensive player. Playing 2 bigs with him on the floor will help. His offensive play at the end of regulation was big time.

Thanks Manhattan but a little perspective:
50 is not old just in between eras
I’d say many of we older posters are respectful and appreciative
20 year old kids often yell the same derogatory crap
( and of course it’s all colleges and their respective fans not just the Storm)
IMO never nice to belittle anyone especially young kids
All the best
Someone in the game thread said LJ was playing horribly which I found funny. Even if it was before the late game heroics and overtime excellence. He makes so many small/smart plays but also has such a penchant for the big/exciting one. With Ponds on the team I never thought there would even be another contender for favorite player on the team but Figgy legitimately makes me think about it. What a pick up. What a game. What a bright future?
LJ is a very fundamental player with a great team attitude. In the first half Figgy was having a bad game offensively but grabbed rebounds. He and Heron were 1 for 7 from three so the game was tighter than some predicted. Figueroa was terrific late in the game.

This is what we are. Going to get abused inside, but make up for it in every other area. Have guys that create havoc, it works. Obviously, making 3's is helpful. Solid squad here, should be no less than a 4 seed when tourney time comes.

I think there are times when we should play Clark and Keita together
Only when the other team has 2 bigs at once. Probably this would have been a point but Clarke was in early foul trouble.
Clark missed a few shots he has been hitting the last few games. Some really good looks. If he was hitting those shots today it would have changed the complexion of the game.

He's been hitting from 3 over 50% lately. Don't think you can expect that moving on unless you're Steph Curry.

What a stressful exciting win. That ponds steal leading to ally ooop better be top play on espn top 10

Some areas of improvement on defense include not fouling 3 point shooters ( I think we did it 3 times) and defending inbounds plays under the basket. We get murdered on them. Always looking for improvement but totally satisfied with the win and the accomplishments to date.

Anyone who is familiar with me on these boards know my dislike for the Hoyas. Winning today's game after looking like we were left for dead in the final moments was pure joy!

I thought we were on our way to blowing 'em out in OT, once we took an 8-point lead, but in typical fashion we allowed a team to sneak their way back in it. Kudos to Figueroa and Simon for being "Johnny-on-the-spot" with their deflections and steals, and to Ponds for just being, well, Ponds (what a helluva steal by Ponds when he just snatched the ball outta the air on Akinjo's pass.... a big steal at the moment, too).

A gutty win, and hopefully we can propel today's game the remainder of the season. I'm looking forward to the rematch in a few weeks, as I think we'll beat 'em by 10 or more.

LJ is going to be a monster next year when he's a go to guy instead of a complimentary one
