(POST-GAME) @Georgetown (CAP ONE), Sat. Jan. 5, 1p, CBS / 570AM

One of the best and most satisfying wins I’ve ever been to, was right behind the St. John’s bench.

That was just tremendous from everyone. The fight in this team.
Team is not perfect but it is as fun a team to watch as we have had in a long while. Lavin had two solid tourney teams but just from an enjoyable stand point for me would have to go back to Barkley last year.
for me right now it's like Lavins first year. After years of getting pounded that season was special

I'm starting to get the same feeling with these kids. It's payback time

What a great job willing their way to tie the game in regulation. Some errors in OT like fouling Govan on a three with an 8-point lead (for Clark's 5th foul), letting Simon handle the ball instead of getting it in Shamorie's hands when GT was going to foul, and, of course, missing free throws, but they played tough D on the final possessions and willed their way to a huge win. GT is a lot better than I thought and a tough out so this was a great road win.
Someone pointed this out already but we lost the same exact game last year.
Yes but these are both very different teams from last year. And much better!

Game seemed lost at end of regulation and LJ makes a great steal. Exciting game, but stressfull. Ponds was an animal. Thankfully, Keata is back. Really helps w depth and defending bigs.

14 steals and 4 blocks. Nice defensive effort.

LJ has a knack for late game steals. It is just that the officials do not always allow it .

Actually thought he got screwed again, cause that to me was clearly an and one. But he made the free throws. Clutch player

LJ makes tons of small heady plays. He always seems to be focused and ready to take advantage of any little opportunity. He's a beast and will be huge for us when Shamorie, Marvin and maybe Mustapha are gone.

Someone in the game thread said LJ was playing horribly which I found funny. Even if it was before the late game heroics and overtime excellence. He makes so many small/smart plays but also has such a penchant for the big/exciting one. With Ponds on the team I never thought there would even be another contender for favorite player on the team but Figgy legitimately makes me think about it. What a pick up. What a game. What a bright future?

this game had me on the edge of my seat, big time.

Great road "W" men!, showed heart and resilience, exciting for a national network (non-cable) telecast.

Onward crew!
I think there are times when we should play Clark and Keita together
Only when the other team has 2 bigs at once. Probably this would have been a point but Clarke was in early foul trouble.

Yes SJ
time to be silly and lighthearted
And perhaps, just perhaps we have seen the end of the insidious, pernicious posts proclaiming;
Chris Mullin can’t coach
Chris Mullin can’t recruit

Good day today
Good days ahead
I am very grateful for this particular W!!!
Nice

One important takeaway from this win that will probably get overlooked is the key contributions we got from both Trimble and Williams. In the wake of Dixon's transfer, it can't be understated how important these two are. The foul trouble and overtime was perhaps a blessing in disguise because they both got a lot of valuable minutes as a result.
This game showed that we actually have depth that can play and has to play. High scoring OT game with 2-3 guys fouled out still won. Keita, Trimble and Williams very important to this team’s ability to go the distance. Dare I say Roberts should also start getting some limited minutes as he’s another bigger kid who can defend and rebound with athleticism. Raw or not, spot minutes won’t hurt.
I agree on Roberts. When we have a lead in the first half he should begin to get some run.around 12 min mark for a few.
Before the foul on Govan with 57 seconds left, Govan air balled a three that was saved from going out of bounds. Am I crazy or did air ball land out of bounds before being saved? Awful pic but:
I think the players did because they stopped playing fora second or 2

I still can't get over how good that Ponds steal was. My jaw is still on the floor.
Don't forget Figgy's steal at the end of regulation, and he made both free throws, to boot. We don't go to OT without that play, obviously.

Ponds looked like he knew exactly where that pass was going to go. It was just a matter of timing his jump right, and he did it perfectly.
That was his second outstanding late game defensive play. That is big time.Especially on D. I and Coach where hoping for an and 1 or an intentional foul.

So proud of these kids. A number of times the wheels were on the verge of coming off, and each time the kids fought back. They showed incredible resilience today, the hallmark of a winning team!
