(POST-GAME) DePaul, Sat. Jan. 12, 6p, CBS SN / 970 AM
Maybe we should start playing DePaul at MSG, because they certainly have our number at CA..
Bet you never thought you would utter those words back in April of 2015.

Didn’t see the game but I think if Ponds plays we win this game. With us getting beat inside by Olujabi why can’t Mullin just Give Roberts a few minutes to see what he can do? He’s long athletic and has shown he can block shots in the limited time he has played. It doesn’t sound like we got much out of Keita, could Roberts have been any worse?

Noticed the players all met at center court tonight after the game, without coaches. I didn’t notice who was doing a lot of talking but I wonder what was being said.

Yes he could be.

What happens on Monday?
i gave up alcohol sugar meat etc. Monday is 72 hours and hopefully I’m not in such a destructive mode because a lot of things pissed me off this game
If you gave up beer the season sober. I mean over. I mean I don't believe you.
As for the shit show we witnessed tonight why anyone is shocked is surprising. We are Shamorie Ponds. Everyone else is a co-star including the coaches. With zero inside game and no Ponds we could conceivably lose every Big East game on the road and barely beat teams at home.
Only 14 days. I'm not stupid. Just need to drop 15 pounds because I refuse to buy new suits. I porked up too much since thanksgiving

I have seen DePaul play three games so I expected Keita to start. Both Reed and Olujobi are tough underneath.
Disappointed we did very little double teaming against the big guys.
Could have tried a zone to cut down with the fouls.
Still not overly impressed with Heron's game.
Pretty much held Strus down but continue to get hurt underneath.
Won't beat them in Chicago even with Ponds if Mullin doesn't come up with a better defensive plan.
DePaul works the clock, might have tried a press earlier to speed them up.
3 losses is not what we expected at this time.
We are a .500 team in BE. I turned on Nevada vs Fresno St. fresno st has great spacing and ball movement. Our spacing sucks. We have 5 guys passing ball around 3 point line. This is a broken record. Our coaching staff stinks and we have no depth. No excuse for not having 8 man rotation
Staff has no ability to teach a zone if needed. They have no clue how to utilize bigs or defend them. They do have an 8 man rotation. They just don't have the coaching experience to know how to use or develop that rotation.
We've been saying what you said for over three years now but don't expect overnight improvement without an additional coach and more talent.

We need Ponds healthy and we need to win the next four games in a row which includes sweeping Creighton in order to put ourselves in position to really make some noise this season. After the next four we are @Duke and @Marquette. Things could get real ugly if we don’t string a few together right now.

Problem is as we all know no defensive center, thus we give up too my fouls, hence we lose these games on the line Yes Ponds could. And probably would have made the diff but we can’t expect him to score 25 every game and play 40 mins in each game if we go 500 in conference would be doing well Hope we do better

Offensively no but looked good blocking shots, at least 3 or 4.

Yeah, that was definitely the problem. It will be interesting to see our game plan when we play at their place. Just having Ponds back is not going to do the trick down low.

I agree with a few other posters that mixing in some zone and a press would have been worth a try. Tonight, no adjustments were made. The refs were quick with the whistle, but our guys were fouling because they were over matched.

Love his honesty also and his teammates would probably say the same thing. The question is, what are they prepared to do about it? After every loss they’ve said the right things but the same issues keep rearing their ugly heads.

Rudderless on offense without ponds. We looked like our guys were playing pickup. Was hoping Heron would rise up and drop 30 on depaul but obviously it wasn't to be.

Got killed by their bigs. As a friend once said, "Basketball is an unforgiving game when it comes to height"

Still and all think we win with Ponds.

Msg deal? Maybe if we extend ponds an additional 3 years

A lot of things to point at why we lost. But the last two games we have been outshot at FT line 50-14. You’re not gonna win games with numbers like that.

They were trying to figure out who was supposed to guard Femi Olujobi. Clark said it was Trimble. Trimble said WHAT? I'm only 6`3. Clark said "but coach told me to just shoot the three ball". Heron, Trimble, Figueroa, and Simon said " but coach told me the same thing!" Keita interjected "Fck this shit, coach told me to just block shots". Ponds settled them down by telling them "I told you all, do what I do and don't listen to these dumb ass coaches".
Marcellus chimed in "those two bigs scored 45 points on you all; that wouldn't have happened if me or Josh got in the game". Keita shot back "shut the fck up, I only played 18 minutes. Bryan, Figueroa and Mustapha didn't do shit on the inside when I was sitting". Camus interjected " oh yeah, who allowed Max Strus to grab 12 rebounds? We're supposed to be a good rebounding team". Trimble responded " but coach told us not worry about offensive rebounds" to which Heron responded "coach Mitch told me I don't have to rebound". They all agreed they should have made Femi feel more at home but agreed it would have helped if the coaches were there when he visited and not just Matt who said he was the big man coach. Camus closed the players only huddle by asking "where's Mikey?".

Heron not getting a lot of love. Expectations were too high. His size forces him to be a two guard, but does not have guard skills. He leads team in 3 point pct, but unfortunately he also leads in turnovers.

Game tonite shows we definitely need a point guard. Four guys standing a the 3 pt line waiting for a pass.

You're not going to go to the line much camped out at the 3 point line and almost never drive. With no coach to teach defense don't expect the numbers to change.
