Coach A had  a bad game tonight too. If wasn't only the Players .
His only mistake, IMO, was not putting Cole in late, and even then, it was a longshot that we would have won.

Coach likes to experiment with different combinations in a game, until he finds one that works, then he runs with it.  Tonight, no combination worked.  Whatever he did.

This loss is on coach Anderson. Pretty bad to be outcoached by Leiteo,

We were outhustled all game.

Where the hell was Cole in the second half? Terrible substitution once again by Anderson.   Another example was sitting Williams in the first half after he hits a three and plays only 10 minutes.

Why did Dunn play as many minutes tonight? He clearly hurt us on defense and offensively. Talk about the lack of team defense - no one stopped Lopez, Jones or Moore on drives to the basket.

I'll say it again start Moore. Roberts has to be our third option at center.

Both Dunn and Posh had trouble finishing tonight.

Williams hurt is better than Dunn healthy. Dunn is no better than an average Division2 player. I'm not saying this just because of his play tonight. I have been sayint it for two years now. No good teams win big games with players like Dunn getting the minutes he gets.Actually on a good team he wouldn't get off the bench. Yes, he plays hard but he hardly plays well. I for one hopes he does not come back next year.

Easier to play as the hunter...Must learn to play as the hunted...they wil learn

It might have been worth trying to play Roberts and Moore together tonight.  We really needed to stop the bleeding inside.

Julian Champagnie on the loss

"It’s upsetting, but we’re not going to lay down. We have to battle and that’s it. You’ve got to move on. Next game we play Villanova on the road which we have to win now, regardless. We are not going to sit here and cry about it.”

Saddest thing about this game is that not a single St. John's fan is surprised by the outcome. Lol.

The fact that we got pummeled in the paint for 40 minutes speaks volumes of how much faith the staff has in a certain grad transfer from GW. The numbers we so lopsided that any change would have been welcomed.

I really dont think we can blame Anderson for the loss tonight. The team as a whole had a really off night as a unit and this happens. Dunn was horrendous-forcing shots, getting swatted into the second row, turning the ball over etc.  We are just more annoyed by it because it could be the difference in making the tournament or not. The problem is how the started conference play 1-5.

The reason the defense was bad is because we got pounded downlow. I forget who posted it earlier but it was the exact same from butler. I was shocked Xavier didnt feed the post that much against us. If any team has a few decent post guys with solid moves we are going to have a problem with them. We have no bulk down there or rim protector. Thats why nova had some trouble with us.

But lets hope they can finsih strong and play well in the BE tourney. This season has been better than what any of us expected esepcially me.Just glad to have some enjoyasble basketball to watch where we have been expecting to see them win and play well.

When you see that you gotta think cma doesn't care, I mean it's obvious that those 2 are better options over Dunn.

What do you mean by that? Obviously coach is trying to win. People will always feel differently about players but they aren’t playing guys they think make them worse.

These comments are normal since we played bad that's for sure.  Season is not over yet.  Just when you count these guys out they seem to turn it around.  This was a bad game.  But it wouldn't surprise me to sweep the last 3 to make the tourney. Wouldn't surprise me to lose them either.  But come on.  We still have a chance. Don't give up yet!!!

My observations about last night's disappointment.

Give tons of credit to depaul coaches for good game plan to pound us down low, and to the players for executing, even though they were short-handed at guard.   I'm sick of seeing depaul play so well at CA.

I understand st john's wanting the other team to make adjustments to our personnel and style of play, but we could not be effective because we couldn't neutralize their interior play.   I would have liked to more of Roberts or even Toro to provide some defense down low.

Have no idea whether Paulicap was ever on CMA  radar since he was close by at Manhattan but , he would have been a good choice for 1 year .  Would have gotten more from him than Toro .

Well this was a learning experience too. For the first time this season, our kids stepped onto the court with an ncaa bid in their grasp. Big favorites, they had everything to lose by not playing well, and almost to a man, played like the pressure got to them.

They've given us quite a ride, and there's a lot to look forward to.

Today, I'm going to focus on everything good they've accomplished over the past 11 games, and not be critical of a single kid or coach.

They earned our respect and deserve our support.

Onward!

Stings, but yes, never expected this degree of success this year and pleased with progress. Finish strong and Dance or not, next year should really be a good one if key guys all back.

My perspective...
Don't need me to say it was a lousy loss and very disappointing. I personally want to focus on the fact that the program is still going in the right direction and what will be will be.

At a minimum we should be in the NIT's. We could still be in the NCAAs if we end strong then we will deserve it.
No one forced us to start the Big East 1-5.

Our kids play hard and I'm sure they are more disappointed than we are!

Thank you Boo Harvey, Mr. P, Beast, Amaseinyiurface, Eric and others for your measured, tempered and insightful posts. No need to abandon ship as I and many are here for the long-haul and the atmosphere is a lot better than the last three decades.
I choose to focus on that.

And the lesson that I know well and I forgot to apply before the game: I should not have counted the game as a W until the game was played - nothing is certain.

( perspective in the scheme of my life, one of my fellow WP alum was just diagnosed with what the great Yankee Lou Gehrig had, and so
I don't think I want to brood too much over a mere college game - important though it is to we fans - thanks )
