Earlington played only 13 minutes, 8 points and 1 rebound with 2 fouls. Part of the reason we did not do better on the boards.
When we start league play, I'm afraid that we're going to find out that some of these guys that played well against mid-major opponents aren't as good as many on this site think they are.

I know that's not a PC comment to make and I hope I'm proven wrong but I have my doubts.

I think we got a pretty good look vs WVU especially what our guys will do against size and athleticism. They are good enough to be a low to middle of the pack BE team.

That’s not how it works. Xrays don’t show anything unless there’s a break. He needs to be seen by an Ortho Surgeon and examined. Rarely an MRI is needed for an ankle, but there’s no way Heron could get seen any sooner than today.
I understand that he had to wait to see an ortho surgeon, but getting an x ray in NYC after hours should be easy enough. Why wouldn't the team trainer and doctor try to rule out the most serious problem? I have had multiple ankle fractures and torn ligaments, and I had to wait until the day after the injury. But I would think that a major college basketball program can respond better and more quickly. I'm not saying that your knowledge of the timing is wrong, but would assume response time is better for pro athletes.

I know, right? I can't believe that Heron and the University didn't immediately rush to get all the necessary tests done ASAP so that the fans and social media can finally have some answers? Pretty asinine by Heron and the staff if you ask me!

If Heron doesn't miss considerable time I think 9-9 is possible.

Playing like we did is no excuse after a big victory. We were clearly out hustled on long rebounds, in fact they had 40 rebounds to our 35.Brown beat our press leading to wide open threes. West Virginia had more turn overs then Brown.(14).
Hopefully Heron recovers quickly. Can't imagine how badly he feels.

Xrays wont show anything with an ankle most of the time. It’s not the test of choice. And no the university wouldn’t release information that is preliminary and not useful for a diagnosis. If there’s a small fracture it’s actually often better than a torn ligament. He might have gotten X-rays for all we know but they’re likely not to show anything. Really he just needs an exam from an ortho doc for the most part.

There is no doubt heron got an xray last night on campus. If it came back positive we would know by now that he had a fracture. They wont announce anything until they have a diagnosis.

He hasn't mentioned anything specific about his own condition, but Mustapha has been sharing stuff about last night's win on his Instagram Story. This would at least indicate he's in good spirits.

IMO, they will announce when they announce; I know many may disagree but they owe nothing to fans or the media as far as timing; what they do owe is honesty when they do report. There could be a myriad of reasons they have not announced besides waiting for tests and their results. I could be wrong with this but I believe if a test reveas a clear cut diagnosis, it probably will be announced rather promptly. As several medically trained people have already shared, it is not always that straightforward.

When I broke my ankle I got an x ray and the xray did not show the break but the doctor stated that x rays are not very good for ankle area because of their complicated structure they don't reveal some of the areas where breaks or other damage to tendons and ligaments can occur. The way Heron grabbed the back looks like Achilles to me.

Damn, this thread has really gone sideways. Heron got injured 15 hours ago and some want an answer right now. The young man got hurt, tests and xrays need to be done, then an appointment at New York Presbyterian hospital this morning to get a better idea of the injury. What is the problem? Talk about some people wanting Instant Gratification, this is ridiculous, lmao.

We will know, when we know.

They had x-rays all the way back then?

Well we should know by 6-7pm tonight right, or no?
Maybe we know he's important to the team and we're anxious about his injury?
We're fans, it's just how we are.

We are all definitely fans. All I am saying is be patient and let the process play out. When I take my granddaughter to the doctor, I don't want a half assed diagnosis just because I am anxious. I let him do a thorough examination and then wait for the results. As fans, we have no control over the severity of Heron's injury, or the treatment for it. I know that the Coach Anderson and Mike Cragg are concerned because he is a very important member of our team.

When a final determination is made, I am sure there will be an announcement.

I tore both achilles and didn't have pain in either, the initial pop and the complete loss of the ability to bear weight was the only indication I was hurt. Not saying it wasn't the achilles but my reaction when I saw his face and him writhing was "thank God it's not his achilles."

Technology is way better then even 10-15yrs when you had to wait days for your results.

I'd assume they will know by the evening sometime.

Not that they'll tell us anything,.

i thought the same thing.

if you look at athletes that have blown an achilles, they're reaction isn't one of overwhelming pain.

kevin durant is the last on that comes to mind. he looked more shocked and pissed, than thriving in pain.

hope Heron is good.
