(POST GAME) Brown, Tue. Dec. 10, 7p, FS-1, 970 WNYW

FWIW, Powell was carried off as well earlier in season...was back a few games later...fingers crossed for Mustapha and the team

You visit Iceland in the summer.

Obviously the the most important takeaway from this game is Herons health... 2nd is getting to long rebounds... but if there even a sliver of positive spin that can be put on tonight’s game, would be:
- given the predictions most had for this team, I assume most fans would have been happy with a .500 record so Anderson’s first losing season didn’t come at SJU. If heronS injury is as bad as it looked...this will put a lot more onus on the guys that will need to contribute heavily next year. Josh/Julian/Greg/rasheem etc... no one expected much this year, but this team has shown that they are capable of competing... and that’s what makes this frustrating.

All the best to Heron- seems like a real good kid.

Ian Steere carried Mustapha Heron off the court and ironically may get the bulk of his minutes if he is slow to return from injury. Expect Marcellus to also get more minutes since, like Rasheem Dunn, he is a take no prisoner player.
The replay of the fall didn't isolate anything and was some of the most terrible and amateurish camera work I've seen this season.
Hopefully he is back for Arizona.

Ian showed his strength as he alone (even though others offered help) carried Heron off as if he was carrying the weight of feather--all the discussion of Ian; he is strong period.

After the game in the team huddle at center court where Heron usually conducts a post game talk, David and Sears stepped up and took charge.

Scott Van Pelt shows a clip of the best thing he saw in sports that day on his nightly sports center show. The Williams dunk was last nights selection.

That kid from Brown was posterized!

It was the No. 1 play on the ESPN’s Top Ten.

Hope Heron is okay and is able to do a Myles Powell.

As soon as I saw Williams dunk that, I said "that will be #1 on the top 10". That was probably the 2nd most posterizing dunk I've seen since Rysheed posterized Nova. I still think that one was better because he slammed it right in the Nova player's face while flying over him and was even more of a poster. But this one is #2 in my memory. By the way also made Barstool's main page which you could argue is more popular than ESPN to the 35 and under crowd right now.

Back to Brown...there were at least 5 or 6 long rebounds that went directly back to them. They just happened to be positioned perfectly for almost all of those. I don't think it was a lack of hustle on us, but pure luck on their part. They even got a ridiculous bounce on a 3 when they were shooting 3's like FT's in the 2nd half.

I really hope Heron is okay, but his foot and ankle were a complete 90 degree angle. It's either going to be a really bad sprain or he tore something. Either way I'm sure he's out for at least 7 or 8 weeks. This is going to hurt us badly, because we stink at shooting with him...without him we will have no choice but to drive 90% of the time. The only guy I truly trust shooting that's left is LJ. Champ has his days but isn't consistent enough from 3 yet. Caraher can make 3's but is often not able to be open enough to make them with regularity. Any chance we had against Arizona is now gone unfortunately, but that's why the WVU win was so important. May get off to a real tough start again in conference play losing a key starting senior guard. Between missing a dunk without anyone around him and his 3 PT shot totally disappearing and now this, real tough breaks for him. Maybe for once we get lucky and he's back in 5 or 6 wks.

Was thinking could sometimes go big Roberts, Steere, Champaigne front line with LJ at two
Again hopefully sprained ankle and won't miss too much time

I don't like the lack of information on Heron's injury. An x ray should have been done last night. If it was clean, wouldn't the university release that information? Whatever happens, I feel so bad for Heron, and for his teammates that really respect him as the team leader.

That’s not how it works. Xrays don’t show anything unless there’s a break. He needs to be seen by an Ortho Surgeon and examined. Rarely an MRI is needed for an ankle, but there’s no way Heron could get seen any sooner than today.

That was a dunk David Russell would've been proud of.!

Aside from Heron's injury, the biggest takeaway from last night was how Anderson dominated us in the second half. Same deal as the ASU kid, small quick points can give us trouble. If Anderson played for WVU we lose that game by 15. Kudos to the Brown coach for making the halftime adjustments for Anderson and running those back-door cuts.

I agree wholeheartedly about the Brown adjustments and kudos to their coaches for changing and their players for executing. But my biggest takeaway was the obvious let down we had on defense in the 2nd half. No team can survive being a turn it on, turn it off team without it biting them at some time. We have been able to survive that a couple of times and that is fools gold.

Earlington played only 13 minutes, 8 points and 1 rebound with 2 fouls. Part of the reason we did not do better on the boards.
