Just importance of what Pitino would mean to the program and Zach giving his two cents a little more than him just reading the board and spitting it out 
Father Shanley came into SJU with a reputation for raising the basketball program at Providence and one who feels the men’s basketball program is important to a colleges profile.
He couldn’t have come along at a better time or to a better school than SJU to fulfill that ambition. He has to do everything he can to get Pitino. There is no one else that will be able to raise this program in a reasonable time.
If he succeeds we can erect a statue of Father Shanley. The timing is just perfect for the hiring. Pitino gets bounced at Louisville, serves his penance at Iona and is now acceptable to lead SJU back after thirty years of futility.

I can confirm Pitino is their #1 choice, the offer is already on the table. It is just down to Pitino accepting it.
I doubt we would hear anything officially until Iona’s season is done.
But can anyone confirm St. John's is his #1 choice?

Tell Texas Tech they can have all the interest in the world in Pitino while SJU kicks their rear ends as Big 12 members.

Spent 24 of last 30 years in Kentucky but ok
he lives at winged foot, SJU doesnt make him relocate. So NY is his HOME right now. Now where his previous home was
recommend all prepare for Texas Tech / Gtown / (Insert School) to swoop in... it will make the blow a lot easier... we've been through a lot, no need getting ourselves excited only for disappointment...

If they fired CMA without having at least a verbal agreement with his replacement, there is no hope for our basketball program!
