I'm not as high on Rhoades as others. Agree on Jones.

Going to be hard to see ourselves as anything more than a DePaul type if our answer to X hiring Miller, Marquette hiring Shaka, and Butler hiring Matta is hiring an underwhelming name like James Jones.
 
I know he hasn't come back very strongly post COVID but if there's a belief Dukies might garner special consideration I'm surprised there is not as much mention of Tommy Amaker who finished 1st or 2nd in the Ivies 9 out of 10 years before COVID. Not saying I'm endorsing him nor recommending him, given his limited success at previous P6 schools, just surprised few if any have brought him up.

Yeah the extension increased the buyout for Hofstra if somebody were to make Speedy an offer he couldn't refuse and probably gives Speedy a raise and higher buyout for him if things go sideways in a few years and Hofstra wants to get rid of him.

I thought about him would like to see him in a few years at Rhode Island.

Also similar issue with Danny and Bobby, now that his brother is back at Xavier and in the BE would he want to coach against him?

Was happy with Fran, Jarvis and Lavin hiring
Talked myself into Mullin and Anderson
Didn’t like Mahoney or Norm hiring.
Judging by past hirings, if I am happy with the next hiring we will enjoy some modicum of success.
If have to talk myself into or hate hiring we are screwed.

Fair enough but I don't think this extension would have materially changed things if he just wants to stay at his alma mater forever.

Extensions this time of year won't stop anybody from poaching or leavings. Guys sign extensions and leave anyway within the next month or quicker all the time.

Agree but I think Soeedy himself is old school honorable plus as someone pointed out here a couple weeks ago he’s made a lot of money in his NBA career
