Could not agree more! Would be a HUGE mistake.Of all the names that have been mentioned in this and other threads, Kevin Ollie is by far the worst.

I hope you are wrong, but I'm afraid you are correct. My guess is Pitino will never coach St. John’s.
There is a good chance we can add Nate Oats to this list soon.I feel we need a poll... should the job come open, which problematic coach is the best fit for St. John's
1. Chris Beard
2. Kevin Ollie (I check his show clause is over)
3. Rick Pitino
4. Mark Gottfried
5. Greg Marshall
or do we just go with a staff of local problems:
6. Tim Welsh HC, Mike Rice Associate HC, Bobby G, Assistant Coach, Jerome Allen DOBO (we'd have to sue the NCAA, but i think we could get him)
This will be our last chance Rick. Why can't SJU give him a 2 year contract, if the SJU likes what they see from Rick then give the man another 3-4 years. That could be a damn option as well.So many posters say that Pitino is interested in being our head coach. How do we know that for sure? If in fact he is interested, I sure hope they started negotiations with him a while ago. Like Monte I suspect he is our last hope for a very long time.
Why would Pitino accept a 2 year contract? If that was all he was looking for, he would agreed to the extension at Iona. This will be our last chance Rick. Of course, Rick would probably want a 5-6 year contract then retire.

Way better off giving him a wink wink version of the lifetime contract he wanted at Iona. Why would Pitino accept a 2 year contract? If that was all he was looking for, he would agreed to the extension at Iona.
Pitino is in better shape now than when he took the Iona job. In addition, you want to show you are aiming for winning and stability and signing a coach to a two year deal does not convey either.
He's also connected in that he got fired from his last job. Perfect fit!Nate McMillan is available. He is affordable for a school on a budget. Plus, he has a connection to St. John's. He was on the NC. State team that the 84-85 team beat to get to the final four. When you are desperate, you can find a connection if you search hard enough.
Great insight on what he might do next years. Says has 5 to 6 years leftInteresting article about Pitino. The article also references Georgetown and St. John's as possible landing sites for him.
With his name cleared, Rick Pitino must make a choice to stay at Iona or take one more shot at a big-time job
'I want to coach five or six more years,' the former Kentucky and Louisville coach told CBS Sports. 'I want to do something special.'www.cbssports.com
Satan wouldn't even have to buy a new wardrobe...probably has closets full of St John's red suits...never wear the same one twice.1. Coach K
2. Pitino
3. Mack
6. Claxton
7. Satan ( if we are guaranteed an NCAA birth in the next 4 years )
I didn’t know there was a BE-ACC challenge lined up for next year.View attachment 541
February 2024...From the World's Most Famous Arena, it's #20 St. Johns hosting #15 UCONN...!
They actually lined up 4 years ago with admittedly a bit more risk (NCAA still hovering over him). They should have leaped then.Rick is on a silver platter. Things have never lined up like this over the last 20 years and over the last 4 coaching searches.
