Porter Moser
Maybe this is just a ploy to get those last Cluess hold outs on board with Cluess.
That's how I'm thinking about it now at least.
I've been thinking both of them are just a ploy to get Pitino. But that's just me off in fantasy land.

This would be a very depressing and embarrassing hire. It would speak volumes of what the administration thinks of our basketball program's importance, to the school.

Just curious do you post under the same name on Jungle?
I have never posted on Jungle and rarely read it. Who stole my handle?
There is someone with the same name. Not a fan of SJU either. I think a fan of Iona or something. But he posts there and was wondering because you didn't seem like same person based on your posts here.
Not me. I am definately a diehard fan of St. John’s and of Redmen.com
This coaching search makes me feel like I am ordering at an restaurant in a foreign country where I can’t read the menu and can’t communicate with the server so I just pick an entree and hope.
"Here is the lovely woman's pasta, and we'll be right back with your raw cobra penis, Mr. Otis."
Is this Cragg's technique to get us all on board for Cluess ? I think it is worth talking to many guys but I have still not heard a name that makes me think they are a better option than Pitino.
Agree with your first sentence, man. I think Cragg wants to be seen checking out other options, following the Hurley disappointment.
But Pitino ain't happening and time 'is' short here this late, with Figgy being romanced by half-a-dozen high majors, the need to repair the roster ASAP, and signature recruiting periods and events on the horizon.
Cluess is the best option that seems to be the farthest along.

The coaching unemployment line is littered with one-year wonders.

Give me the consistent winner all day, everyday.

I remember being very impressed by this story on Moser's recruiting efforts written just after their final four run. I'm not saying he is best available candidate and I have no problem going with Cluess if that what is decided, but one thing for sure, Moser would be very involved in recruiting and he does his due diligence in that regard. Would obviously take him time to build the high school network of contacts he has in Chicago though which is a negative. WCJF will love the quote that Moser is a good closer!

Thanks to those posting the articles.

I'm going to step back watch the rest of Arsenal match and read them.

Back with fresh perspective later..........maybe

Frankly I would expect Moser will turn the job down. Cragg better be careful before Cluess decides he doesn’t like being used as a measuring stick. St Jean might end up with this job after all.

That is a nice article. You could see him spending a lot of time in NY/NJ gyms. He would need a staff will local connections. He seems to recruit Illinois almost exclusively.

As stated this morning, he is the new coach

Good post, NCJ.
I do think Moser is a solid coach. While he was 105-101 over his first 7 years as a HC, he has been winning at a .530 clip at Loyola the past 8 years, plus the 6 years with the great Majerus gives him solid creds.
But you nailed it regarding getting acclimated to the NY Metro scene. It'd take him 2 - 3 years to get that down.
Meanwhile, he may well struggle..
All in, I'm hoping Cragg is simply checking boxes and will opt for Cluess this week.

Fair enough, if so I can think of worse moves.

Unless he thinks he can get the Chicago recruits to come here.

I will say this: That FF team really got after it on defense and the ball movement was some of the prettiest I'd seen in a long time. The D can probably be attributed to the coach. Hopefully the ball movement was as well, and not just a bunch of kids who had remarkable chemistry.
