To say the least. Really looks petty and cheap to take this guy (who may very well be a good coach) over Cluess, IMO.

Has Brey been in to see Cragg today? That got some buzz the other day as possible.
I think Cluess would be a far better choice than Moser and while I like Brey a lot, I'd be very surprised he leaves ND after 19 years to come to SJU because of one woeful season due to injuries.
But as the wise man says, 'we shall see'.

Safe to assume Cragg wouldnt let this one out unless this was "the guy" a second time? God I hope this is just more due diligence.

Again, when you take out that one admittedly special year, Moser appears to have had just mediocre results. In eight seasons at Loyaola, he finished better than 5th place in his conference just twice.

I actually noticed his record last week when I checked it out. He may very well work out, but I don't want him. Heck, I'd rather have Cluess than him, and most know I don't want Cluess.

Not sure how Loyola and the Missouri Valley Conference compares to Iona and the MAAC. But, FWIW, Cluess has been much more successful.

Tim Cluess
.729 Winning Percentage in Conference
.648 Winning Conference Overall w/Iona
.694 Winning Percentage as Division I Head Coach

Porter Moser
.432 Winning Percentage in Conference
.530 Winning Conference Overall w/Iona
.521 Winning Percentage as Division I Head Coach

* The .432 winning percentage in his own conference to me stands out. Can't imagine a Big East coach, with that winning percentage, leaving for a bigger job.

MVC is a much better conference than the MAAC, but your concern is valid

12th 8th and 14th the past 3 years

Not advocating for Moser and would hope we'd do better, but guy took a shitty Loyola-Chicago team (1-17 in his first season in the Horizon league) from last in the Horizon (and 10th in the MVC) to 1st in MVC in six/seven years (oh, and to a final four).

A valid point.
