We are...St. John’s.
A guarantee like Pitino wouldn’t make sense for us. It would stop our run of horrible decisions at 26 years.

Didn't Francesa say when you are considering hiring a head coach you need to contact the NCAA and get clearance? He implied Pitino wouldn't get cleared if we tried. Does anyone know if he would? If he would be cleared then I don't care if he wore underwear on his head and yelled at clouds, get the man to Queens. This isn't the Leave it to Beaver age of college hoops. This is the by any means necessary era of college hoops. Don't get mad, get even! The guy's not marrying any of your daughters. He'd be here to win games.
That being said seems dead in water because of recent FBI activity with Louisville.
Rick Pitino on St. John’s rumors: “There’s nothing that would make me leave this team right now”
10/Apr/19 21:15
Rick Pitino denied the rumors about St. John’s head coach job and made it clear Panathinaikos is his priority right now.

Chris Mullin stepped down as St. John’s head coach which paved the way for rumors about current Panathinaikos coach Rick Pitino being a candidate for the job. However, Pitino denied it and emphasized that no offer would make him leave the team now that they are getting ready for the playoffs:
“I’m enjoying being a pro coach. So far, we’ve had Las Vegas, we’ve had UCLA, we’ve had… It’s very difficult for me to be a college coach. All you have to do is look at the calendar timing-wise. I would have to leave to be a college coach and these guys are way too important to me, for me to leave at any point. There’s no amount of money, there’s no job, there’s nothing that would make me leave this team right now as we start the playoffs. So, if I was anybody in your shoes or elsewhere, I would not pay attention to any rumors because this basketball team is way too important to me to leave them at this time”, he said after the Greek League match and win against AEK.
“Right now.” “At this time.” In other words, “Mike Cragg, can you wait until these playoffs are over?”
Has a coach in NBA or Pros like in Pitino's case ever taken a college job, have it been announced but finished out with pro team?
I know in college football sometime coaches will take job, usually assistants now more I think of it and still finish out but it already be known they are the HC of another school soon.
Our fans wanting Rick Pitino is the same as residents of DC re-electing Marion Barry after he served time in federal prison.
Would he get us to a Final Four?
Pitino may have to coach the team by FaceTime from a country that doesn't have an extradition treaty with the U.S.
Or run it from prison like a good mob boss would.
Better yet, see how long this would keep the feds away
Saying what he has to say. We could hire him today and he could show up 10/15 and the team will be better than whomever is hired.
I don’t think he is coming but that statement was made to make sure people know he isn’t desperate for a coaching job. If he is hired probably made himself a bit more money.
One thing for sure, we would have the coach that could transform our program, making it a desired location to play basketball at an elite level. We will take some grief from some people. We would, however, be on our way to putting SJU back at an ELITE position in the game,
My guy Mkras just got in! Did Cluess fall apart yet? Nobody willing to pony up 2m to bail him out yet? Rick is posturing, if I am him and expressed interest and was not second fiddle to Hurley, but third fiddle behind Cluess I would put out a statement like that. Now the NBA season is over the NBA will be sniffing around at Ricky boy. He took a horrible euro team now in the playoffs. The money is there for Rick! The terms are clear. Jump Bobby jump! Help Bobby feel froggy!
The predictions on how long it will take for SJU to challenge first Prov, Seton Hall and Xav before moving up to challenge Vill if Cluess, Dawkins etc. are hired make me feel SJU has to take the heat and hire Pitino..
