Pinzon Instagram

A mutiny with a handful of games remaining? Heck no! Even if it was early in the season..... Play out the season and simply transfer at the end of the year if the coach is retained.

I am amused by the criticism of Pinzon playing hero ball. We have no offense. No plays. No structure. We lead the NCAA in possessions which is not a good thing. It means no one passes. If you don’t shoot you don’t see the ball again. Put Pinzon in a structured offense like Creighton or Marquette and he scores ten+ a game. Anderson misused him. It’s a free for all out there.

Neither Moser or Odom are lighting the world afire so win some lose some in that regard.

but I can understand coaches not wanting to come here after when ran out most successful coach in 30 years out of town.

Gotta wonder what’s the appeal of coaching at St. John’s if your admin and fanbase is going to treat you like that. The money is not going to be competitive within league, the facilities are subpar, and when there is press it’s only to report the negative.

We have to acclimate ourselves with the new normal. Over pay for Speedy Claxton and how he doesn’t just use St. John’s as a stepping stone.

Either that our we are in for tired retreads, proven cheaters, unproven assistants, or former players every 5 years.
Proven cheaters are, unfortunately, proven winners. That is true in every sport and pretty much every endeavor. We need a coach who knows how to bend but not break every rule. St. John's needs an edge, because it certainly isn't recent history or the facilities that will win players and their handlers over. As for running out our most successful coach in 30 years out of town, I assume you mean Lavin. Our most successful coach in the past 30 years was Jarvis. That's not me talking, it's the record books. Sad, isn't it? I don't remember a lot of love on this board for Lavin as his final season winded down. Just a lot of excitement that the Mullin rumors were true. We are a desperate bunch and rarely see a train wreck until it's too late to move out of the way.

The worst Knick coach I have ever seen was Larry Brown. Hall of Fame Coach took one last big pay day then mailed it in.
Not that Anderson was ever John Wooden or even Steve Lavin or anything, but think basically mailed it in here.
Those "inside the huddle" TV moments have been eyeopening. Especially comparing with Ed Cooley, Sean Miller, or Shaka Smart. Whether he's mailing it in or had an extended run of incredible players at other schools, it's very obvious he currently lacks the skillsets to succeed at SJU.

Either mailing it in, the luckiest man alive or biggest overachiever ever considering his prior success in comparison to his coaching ability.

IMO this program will not be any worse off if both Curbelo and Pinzon do not take the floor again!

Pinzon suffered from post Covid heart complications He could have and should have taken a red shirt year. But he stuck it out for the team. Foolish him. Check out Pinzon PR national team videos on u tube. The kid can play. Kolby Kung could not even make those teams. Pinzon started and was often the high scorer. Pinzon spike the truth. I don’t blame him one bit for being disgusted with this street all knifefight that Anderson preaches.
Rafael I totally understand where you’re coming from but I’d just log off the internet after it got you into some trouble yesterday

Not a Fan of Pinzon game but does no one see irony in grown men who spend the day bashing people on a website badmouthing a frustrated teenager complaining about his coach on social media?
Just throwing it out there.
I understand Pinzon's frustration, but a young man who is getting a free ride at a private school along with the other perks of being a college athlete perhaps should be held to a higher standard than a bunch of message board posters. Another thought is that a player may want to prove his worth on the court before taking on the disgruntled diva role. The right way to do this is meet with the coach behind close doors and tell him that this program isn't the right fit for him. Then again, I liked Jim Taylor bowling 3 guys over, scoring a touchdown, and handing the ball to the referee without making a scene. So I may be out of touch with today's young men.

Yes, I was talking about Lavin. Honestly, I thought all Jarvis wins were vacated, I have no idea what his record is. I don’t consider him successful. I mean for goodness sakes he paid Abe Keita. But that had to be the dumbest move in St John’s history, he should have been paying Rob Artest!

I agree.

But where was CMA when Curbelo was suspended for a game, not allowed to even be on the bench. With that Curbelo shows up at the game as a fan, crashes CMA's press conference and the posts it on Instagram for the world to see. Curbelo was allowed to play next game.

SMH
No idea what actually was said between Pinzon and CMA, but based on the IG alone, should have been a 1 game suspension - not indefinite. Curbelo has done much more damage. . .even last night, he was sitting on bench in street clothes and at one point stood up and was signaling to CMA that it was time to put Wusu back in the game.

I don't believe any of Jarvis' wins were vacated and he was clearly our best coach from a wins and losses perspective since Louie. It ended badly and he appeared to be a real jerk but based on numbers he was the best. Having said that, I'll remember Lavin a helluva lot more fondly than Jarvis though I'll remember that Jarvis Elite 8 team as one of the best teams ever.

I think Pinzon does have a tendency to force shots, but I believe it is because he knows that if he passes, it isn’t coming back. Not an excuse but a reason.

Also, I’ve noticed that when Pinzon is in the game w/Posh and Wusu, they tend to just look for each other. Pinzon and Storr should be key weapons in an inside outside game w/Soriano.

I think Pinzon could have developed into our version Kunkel from Xavier

Have to agree Otis, he should have kept his mouth shut (fingers still?) finished out the year and bolted. Not many coaches would welcome a kid who would publicly undermine a coaching staff.
If he were more talented I would say they'd be lining up for him in spite of what he posted on IG. Regardless, he's got some game so they'll be a number of coaches out there willing to take a chance on him. Likely someone who he has a prior relationship with, or at least a relationship with a staff member.

WTF IS THE PUNK EVEN WITH THE TEAM? HE SHOULD BE BARRED FROM THE FREAKINGGGGGGGGGGGG BIULDING.
cma is very soft when it comes to Curbelo, I really wonder why?

Think I'll have to ignore posts about him.

Only noise Jarvis made was with Frans kids.
