Euro trip:

@STJCoachLavin: Eager to take #stjbb foreign tour to France, Italy and Spain this August.
Extra practices, games and educational dimension valuable to team!

Can't pull that one off huh?

Fairweather fan ;) haha

Having less conference opponents gives us a lot more flexibility with who we schedule for non conference games. I wouldn't be surprised if Lavin set up another west coast trip.
We play 18 conference games. Same as always.

Does anyone know if SJU will post the schedule and location of these games?

“@ECoastBias: Schedule update: Bucknell and Monmouth added to the St. John's schedule #stjbbhttp://sbn.to/10LShCv

My vote for this season's Asheville/BU: Bucknell

I don't think they can qualify as a candidate for that. They almost bring too much credibility to the table. To qualify for that level of a loss, it has to be against a REALLY bad team (the worst, IMO, was when Niagara game into the Garden, and beat us by about 25 in the Holiday Festival)

I don't think anyone's expecting a easy win here, but it will be a solid early-season test. Game will be played similar to a Big East game. IMO, these are the type of teams we should be bringing into CA for a non-conference game (just like Detroit last year, and Lehigh the year before, though that was assinged to us).

I'd like to see one more headliner opponent for OOC like Duke. What happened with that? I thought we were doing every other year with them. Anyway, I'm satisfied after adding 1 more big name. We need our fair share of cupcakes because our conference is still very strong.

Looks like we may be playing Longwood next year as per Rumble in the Garden tweet
Longwood was 8-25 last year but beat UNC Ashville in the Big South tournament

Didn't know where to park this:

@DMartinCSN: Also among those at Under Armour Undeniable Grindsession this weekend in LA will be St. John's Jamal Branch and Sir'Dominic Pointer. #stjbb

Escorting Isiah Whitehead no doubt.

Also there from HS are Mundiay, Okonoboh and Seventh Woods amongst others. Where's it held and is it open?

Not open to the public:

The camp, which is by invite only, will take place June 30-July 2 and will feature 29 of the nation's best high school prospects and another handful of college players who will serve as counselors. Among the college talent in attendance will be last year's CAA Player of the Year, Jerrelle Benimon of Towson, as well as J.P. Tokoto of North Carolina and Anthony Collins of South Florida.

The event is closed to college coaches, but is sanctioned by the NBA and will include scouts from all 30 NBA teams.

“@LennyVangilder: Buried in Raftery to Fox Sports 1 announcement: new Big East will open league play with 5-game marathon on New Year's Eve.”

“@LennyVangilder: In order: St. John's at Xavier, Seton Hall at Providence, DePaul at Georgetown, Villanova at Butler, Marquette at Creighton.”

Nike Skills Academy
JaKarr Sampson, St. John’s: Sampson, the reigning Big East Rookie of the Year, posted averages of 14.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest last season. On Wednesday, Sampson, a former prep teammate of both McGary and Christon, demonstrated an uncanny athletic skill-set. At 6-8, the Akron, OH product finished above the rim, in acrobatic fashion, on several occasions. Sampson’s ability to run the floor with ease resulted in easy scoring opportunities around the basket. On defense, the rising sophomore excelled in guarding against the pick-and-roll, hedging the ball-handler and preventing a drive to basket while allowing the defending guard to recover.
