WC game.
stanton - its the playoffs, not the trotters.
I actually think it was a good thing that he didn't run hard on that.  He's probably out trying for second if he does.

Is the Boston crowd intimidating the umps here?

I didn't think either Gallo or Higgy went, when they got rung up, and I thought the 2-2 to Devers was a strike, which led to the walk, and homer.

Tough to win when it's 9 against 15.

its not that stanton did not run hard, he did not run. he admired the shot, then trotted.
yes. both yankee check swings were checked swings and not 3rd strikes.

The Ace laid an egg tonight.  Not an excuse but if you look at his last 5/6 starts since hamstring he's been horrid. Pretty clear to see something is off.

If it's so clear why did Boone start him for a one game, do or die playoff?

Imagine the backlash if the $325M player didn't start.  Or couldn't start?  It would be a disaster.  Then again his performance will still bring that disaster effect.

I get the comments he's overpaid and the contract is too long.  In the AL he's still the best pitcher by far. Sure Robbie Ray had a great year and will win the Cy Young but he's never pitched like that before.  Glasnow- never pitched more than 110 innings in a year and hurt again.  Giolito not better.  The NL has all the stud arms.  Cole is still the best AL pitcher out there IMO.

Big job by Holmes and Gio there.  Lets wake up the bats Jobu!

ouch play at the plate.
I had no issue with that send.  Boston executed that perfectly.

This has been one of those games where every little detail is going against us.

Here's the sequence of events in order:

1.  Cole becomes the best pitcher in MLB by using illegal sticky substances
2.  Yankees give Cole $325 Million
3.  MLB cracks down on using sticky substances
4.  Cole becomes an ordinary pitcher
5.  Yankees realize the highest paid pitcher in MLB is no longer a true ace
6.. Yankees realize they just got screwed
