NY YANKEES - 2021

I see next year as a bridge year to the next generation (Volpe, Dominguez, etc).  I want to compete, but I am more concerned with positioning the team for 2023 and the next wave/core group.
If I were GM here's what I'd do:

1) Move Stanton or Judge.  Their values will never be higher.  I can't have both on the team, they are the same player, neither can play CF, and they are each about 5years away from being fulltime DH's.
2) Acquire a SS for 2-3 years.
3) Move Urshela or Torres.
4) Trade Voit
5) Sign Rizzo short term or Freeman long term at 1B.
6) Sign Conforto to play LF

OF Next year is Judge/Stanton RF, Hicks CF, Conforto LF  (Gallo is 4th OF/DH/1B back up.  Frazier or a FA is the 5th OF until Domingez is ready to push Hicks out of CF).

Infield is C - Sanchez/Higgy, 1b Rizzo/Freeman, SS TBD, 2b/3b is LeMahieu and either Torres or Urshela.

SP:  Cole, Sevy, Monty, Tallion & German/Gil/Cortes/King/Schmidt
BP:  Chapman, Green, Holmes, Loaisiga, O'Day and a few new pieces from the moves above.

There's more I would consider, but that's off the top of my head for now.

Let's see if this is the backhanded way of moving on from Boone.
Cut the fat on the staff aka all his buddies like Nevin and then they 'can't come to an agreement' on a new contract.

Perhaps, but isnt that overkill?  Most of the fanbase wants him to go.   Nobody would give you grief if you just moved on.   You don't owe him any money that you'd gain back if he quit, so why bother to jerk his chain?
Better to just tell him you aren't offering him a 2nd contract and let the new HC hire a new staff.   Everyone parts friends...

Boone, Boone, The Boone is baaaaack! Cause I'm better than you, in the things that I do, oh yeah!

Heard there is a roll over clause in the contract so every time we get eliminated in the WC game he gets another 2 years tacked on the back end of the contract.

I have mixed feelings about re-upping Boone but fully support letting Cashman have a chance to fill the holes he so correctly pointed out in his press conference. Shortstop is key imho and really think it's time to bring in another catcher to start, even if only a temporary stopgap until youngsters are ready. If they can get any value in exchange for Torres, I'd do it and put Lemahieu at 2B and Urshela at 3B full time next year and bring back Rizzo at 1B for another year.

Who are you replacing him with?   He's one of the top GM's in the sport.  Just getting rid of him doesn't solve any problems, in fact if you don't replace him with someone better, you create more problems than you solve.

Theo Epstein for one.

Theo isn't taking a team job.  He's waiting for expansion and will be part of one of those 2 franchises building it from the ground up.
