NY YANKEES - 2021

Great job by the Yanks letting the Red Sux, Blue Jay's, Athletics and Mariners back into the wild card discussion, while distancing themselves further from the Ray's. Show what happens when you play like shit for a week and then throw out the BS lineup they did today.

Sunday's games of importance:

Baltimore (Akin - 2-8, 6.90) at Yankees (Kluber - 4-3, 3.61) - 1:05 PM

Oakland (Irvin - 9-12, 3.74) at Toronto (Ray 10-5, 2.71) - 1:07 PM

Cleveland (Plesac - 9-4, 4.49) at Boston (Pivetta - 9-7, 4.67) - 1:10 PM

Minnesota (Jax - 3-3, 6.71) at Tampa Bay (Patino - 4-3, 4.24) - 1:10 PM

Seattle (Flexen - 11-5, 3.52) at Arizona (Gilbert - 1-2, 2.93) - 4:10 PM

Big break for the Yankees, with Robbie Ray pitching for Toronto on Sunday.  It meas that we won't see him in the upcoming four-game series in the Bronx.

Bad job by Boone, putting Chapman in when he did.  Guy is in a slump.

Did you see his last game?

One game does not a season make.

No way?!?!?!  Really???

He's the closer.  Regardless of the issues he's had in the middle of this year.  He had a fingernail issue and then covid.  I know you don't watch games but surely that was reported in the papers.

Also as such a long time fan like yourself you know that you can't save an extra inning game at home.  So the closer comes in for the 9th inning of a tie game.  You cannot blame Boone for that.  And frankly while Chapman was shit today how about the 9 bats who could barely muster a hit off a team 50 games under .500.

Moose,
I’ve watched some games/innings since the field of dreams game.
I disagree with your desire to stay with Chapman. He’s not back to where he should be. Control is awful. He looks like he tries to pitch away from contact. Why do the Yanks have so many injured pitchers? Manager, GM, pitching coach, player?

Huge loss of Loasiga. Guess Holmes moves up, and Gil gets a shot?

Need Gil up here.  I think they were toying with him out of the pen in AAA.  Good foreshadowing.

He hasnt been good since June.  Prior to that he was unhittable.  Then he had a fingernail issue and some thought sticky stuff.  He's your closer however end of story.  Britton would be next up and he's hurt after he was horrible.  Green has had just as many stinker moments as Chapman.  Lasagna has been arguably the best reliever in baseball but likely more valuable as a 2 inning bridge guy.  So then what does that leave exactly?  Peralta has had some good moments.  Luetge reliable but closer?  Chapman is the guy and you bring your closer in a game thats tied at home in the 9th.

Yankees injuries are in line with the rest of baseball.  Every day I turn around a guy is hurt.  Pitchers weren't meant to throw this hard this much.  Welcome to baseball in 2021.

Hoping Abreu can develop into a Lasagna type 2 inning arm but he gives up a pitching wedge HR to Yankee Killer Cedric Mullins

Horrible loss.
In a season with so many 'worst loss of the year's' this takes the cake.

Too late to fire Boone?

Yanks only 9-7 vs team with worst record in baseball and is 50 games (now 49) below .500.

That's pretty much your division lead.
Also heard that's the O's best record against an MLB team this year.  (Skewed with Division scheduling but still .........)

Right now this pitching staff is really bad, with the exception of Cole. How the hell does Boone say that Heany's stuff was good? As mentioned yesterday, Peralta has hit a wall. What's the sense of having Kriske on the active roster if they're afraid to use him? Get someone up here that can help this struggling bullpen. Imagine what the bat-happy Jay's are going to do this weekend against thus staff (hopefully Cole is his usual great self). We need starters to get into the 7th inning. And, by the way, they better get a real SS in here next season. Torres lackadaisical play was a killer today.

Taillon and Cole pitch the next two games.

IMO, that back-to-back pairing needs to be broken up, somehow (I know it's tough with 20 straight days).  They're the only two guys who give us innings (Cortes does to, but to a lesser extent).  You can't burn the bullpen out three days in a row.

And Heaney should only be entering games that have a run differential of 7 or more.

Monday's games of importance:

Toronto (Ryu - 12-8, 3.92) at Yankees (Taillon - 8-5, 4.44) - 1:05 PM

Tampa Bay (Yarbrough - 8-4, 4.50) at Boston (Sale - 3-0, 2.53) - 1:10 PM

Seattle (Kikuchi - 7-7, 4.12) at Houston (McCullers - 10-4, 3.20) - 7:10 PM
