NY YANKEES - 2021

Thursday's games of importance:

Oakland (Montas - 10-9, 3.66) at Detroit (Manning - 3-5, 5.46) - 1:10 PM

Boston (Rodriguez - 10-7, 5.12) at Tampa Bay (McClanahan - 9-4, 3.59) - 7:10 PM

Judge has moved into the top 10 in MLB in OPS (On-base + Slugging %), and he's #3 in MLB in WAR (Wins above replacement).

Stanton is a respectable #27 in OPS, but his WAR is only #95 (probably b/c he only DHs).

odds tracker has #99 and big g tied for 7th with 12 people for mvp odds to win it.
dj is in the next group.

Such a calming sight having Cole on the mound last night. Even the one inning when he had some trouble you could sense he'd find a way out, and he did. Absolutely Dominant.  Now let's get on a roll at home.

D Cone gave a stat that since Stanton joined the Yanks shows him to be a very productive hitter.

I was a big defender of Stanton here regardless of the length of the contract since there is funny money from Miami towards the end.

But I'm most impressed that he seems like a completely different hitter when he gets to play the field.  Yankees have 3 giants in the OF now.  Not sure if that can sustain over 162 games but right now its fun.

Saturday's games of importance:

Baltimore (Ellis - 1-0, 3.09) at Yankees (Montgomery - 5-5, 3.52) - 1:05 PM

Oakland (Blackburn - 0-1, 2.81) at Toronto (Berrios - 9-7, 3.53) - 3:07 PM

Minnesota (Albers - 1-0, 0.96) at Tampa Bay (Archer - 0-1, 4.35) - 4:05 PM

Cleveland (Morgan - 2-6, 5.98) at Boston (Houck - 0-3, 3.63) - 4:10 PM

Seattle (TBA) at Arizona (TBA) - 8:10 PM

gallo might  be a giant in height, but in the most recent game - 5 at bats, no ball hit fair.
sit gallo, put wade/gardy out there.
stanton stopped swinging at pitches very low and very outside.
hard to tell if odor eater should have caught that rbi single, but odor eater is a below average 3rd baseman.
yank odor eater and his occasional getty.

Gallo did get on base once by Walking /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png
He needs to sit a day but I guess the hope is the O's suck and he will snap out against them.
Odor is covering at a position that's not his.  Gio has had bad luck with injuries this year.  Could put Wade at 3B but also not his natural 1st or 2nd position and tbf Wade's defense has had just as many negative moments as Odor this year.  Wade can slide with the best of them though.

Bad job by Boone, putting Chapman in when he did.  Guy is in a slump.

Just another annoying loss. And vs. the Orioles,  of all teams. Yanks had only 1 real hit today. Pitiful. 5 outs in the starting lineup. Gallo (yeah, I know he actually lost one today), Wade, Velasquez, Higashioka and Gardner. You can't do that. You need to spread these off days out better. Torres just got back from a month off and needed a day off? BS. If Boone does this the entire month, this team is going no where. Peralta has hit the proverbial wall.

Did you see his last game?

One game does not a season make.

No way?!?!?!  Really???

He's the closer.  Regardless of the issues he's had in the middle of this year.  He had a fingernail issue and then covid.  I know you don't watch games but surely that was reported in the papers.

Also as such a long time fan like yourself you know that you can't save an extra inning game at home.  So the closer comes in for the 9th inning of a tie game.  You cannot blame Boone for that.  And frankly while Chapman was shit today how about the 9 bats who could barely muster a hit off a team 50 games under .500.
