After a 13 game winning streak, Yanks have lost 2 in a row in sloppy, non-hitting fashion. Back to the way they played a lot of the season. This kind of play might get them to a wildcard game, but not much further. Again the defense was very suspect. If it wasn't for Gardner, they would have lost by a lot more. Where have the bats gone again? Defense? Why did the Yanks allow Kemp to produce every night? And how can Green be trusted with all the home runs he gives up? Need to right the ship starting tomorrow night. Very disappointing end to the series.

West coast funk.
Yeah, when you're going well as team, going west can be the worst thing that can happen to you sometimes.  The opposite is true too.  Remember, after that Mets doubleheader, we were 42-41, then went to Seattle, and that's when we first started to play better.

Plus, Oakland just sucks as a hitters park.  Both for power and average (especially), it's probably the worst in the American League.  Oakland can build their team around it.  We can't, because it would hurt us in our own ballpark.

Yankees are 13-2 over their last fifteen games and have the best record in baseball since the all-star break.

-Sky is not falling

-Boone is not getting fired

game 130
sloppy game.
a's first run, unearned, because of 3b error.
yanks lone run, unearned, because of 3b error.
game tied 1 to 1, bottom of 8th, 2 outs, no one on.
gallo has a lf misadventure, then a line drive, barely fair, barely deep.
i hope the yanks dont go back to june swoon baseball. runs hard to come by. sloppy infield defense.
bravo monty, another monty - if you had the under, you won.

Speaking of the other Monte, what ever happened to that guy? Not my favorite poster but in the top 75. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png/media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

Since we're probably not going to catch Tampa Bay (I think we've actually lost ground on them since we were 41-41), it might be in our best interests to root for them against the BoSox, and knock Boston out of the playoffs.

I think we can beat Boston in a one-game playoff, just like I think Oakland, Toronto, or Seattle can beat us, but I like to avoid the Red Sox whenever possible, and the path to that is to continue to have Tampa Bay beat them.

Oakland (Irvin - 9-12, 3.68) at Detroit (8-11, 4.01) - 7:10 PM

Oh oh, are the Teasers back? Probably not, but it seems to be either feast or famine. Too many hanging pitches. Need to get back on track tonight.

How quickly you jumped off the bandwagon

Not at all. Just sensing it will not be an easy road to the wild card and the rest of the season, including the postseason.

I feel pretty confident they are making the postseason.  At minimum as a WC team.
Sure catching Tampa is uphill fight.  They do finish the season with 3 games against them.

Tampa is winning the division because they went 18-1 against the O's this year.
Yankees are 8-5 against the O's.  That's your division right there.  (Yes I know lead is 7 not 4 but you get the point)
Yankees still have 2 sets left against O's.  Take care of business hope TB slips a bit and then the last 3 games of the year might mean something.

Not to mention that 10 of the 13 we have played against Baltimore were done by mid-May, before they really went in the tank.  Only one 3-game series since.

It also hurt that Tampa beat us 5 out 6 back-to-back weekends in April.  We've been playing catch-up with them ever since (even beating them 6 out of 10 since then hasn't done much good).

Unfortunately, while Tampa is done with Baltimore, they have an amazing 7 games left with the Detroit Tigers (not even a division opponent).

They might not lose 7 games for the rest of the season.  Hopefully, they can lose 3 out of 5 the first week of October.

game 132.
when the speedy gardy in the 7th inning, hit into the fifth ground ball double play of the game, i went to sleep.
the june double play swoon is back..

The Yanks are back, and not in a good way. 5 hit into DPs. Wow. Early season Yanks. Yanks pitchers seem to give up more 0-2 homers on less than their best pitches. And too many key 2 out hits given up. Taillon seems to have hit a wall. Gallo needs a day off. Or more. Boone sees nothing but good in 4 losing games. Geez.

As bad as it was the Red Sox lost again.  And Covid is starting to make its way through their clubhouse which isn't above the 85% threshold.

Wednesday's games of importance:

Houston (Odorizzi - 6-6, 4.46) at Seattle (Gilbert - 5-5, 5.44) - 4:10 PM

Baltimore (Harvey - 6-14, 6.18) at Toronto (Matz - 10-7, 3.81) - 7:07 PM

Yankees (Cole - 13-6, 2.80) at LA Angels (Naughton - 0-0, 1.69) - 7:07 PM

Boston (Sale - 3-0, 2.35) at Tampa Bay (Rasmussen- 1-1, 3.46) - 7:10 PM

Oakland (Kaprielian - 7-4, 3.65) at Detroit (Peralta - 3-3, 3.63) - 7:10 PM

With the off day tomorrow, how the hell is the ridiculously struggling Gallo in the lineup and not Stanton, against a no name lefty starter? By the way, Yanks have lost the last 4 games to no name starters.

I agree with this.  Gallo needs to sit.  While he walks once a game he is not swinging a good bat right now and him grounding into 2 double plays in a series when he had 9 in his whole career prior is enough evidence.
