Right now this pitching staff is really bad, with the exception of Cole. How the hell does Boone say that Heany's stuff was good? As mentioned yesterday, Peralta has hit a wall. What's the sense of having Kriske on the active roster if they're afraid to use him? Get someone up here that can help this struggling bullpen. Imagine what the bat-happy Jay's are going to do this weekend against thus staff (hopefully Cole is his usual great self). We need starters to get into the 7th inning. And, by the way, they better get a real SS in here next season. Torres lackadaisical play was a killer today.
Taillon and Cole pitch the next two games.

IMO, that back-to-back pairing needs to be broken up, somehow (I know it's tough with 20 straight days).  They're the only two guys who give us innings (Cortes does to, but to a lesser extent).  You can't burn the bullpen out three days in a row.

And Heaney should only be entering games that have a run differential of 7 or more.

Heaney should not be on the roster!

game 137.
the yankee infield gloves are nearly all worthless.
fans asked about kriske. he closed out this game, for the birds
gallo - 4 at bats. no ball past home plate. kkkk

Roster construction faulty. Cashman’s fingerprints.

Why is Voit not in against a lefty? Plain stupid.

Perhaps because Stanton is the hottest hitter on the team, has been playing a lot of outfield and needs a rest.

Kriske comes in for the 9th inning with Yanks trailing by 3 and gives up 5 runs so does he get a reverse save?

The bullpen appears to be a lost cause.

However, I think this lineup would benefit greatly by benching Torres and Urshela, and playing Wade and Velazquez every day.

I hate to pick on those two, but there appears to be a clear line.  Their returns took the speed element away from our team.  It's time to get some of that back.

Oh boy. This team is in mid-season form, and that's not good. Nothing like going up to Boston having to win a wildcard game with these starters, this defense, a dead bullpen, strikeout king Gallo. And Boone at the helm. Does Gallo have something on Boone? Given his momentous struggles, how is he in there against a crafty lefty like Ryu? What the hell has Torres become? Yanks playing pitiful ball at the wrong time. No doubt.

Now it's obvious why the Yanks have not pitched Kriske. He's just horrible. I still can't understand why he's taking up an active spot. What happened to Ridings? Boone looked pissed in the postgame, but still has no clue how to right the ship. He still believes Gallo is contributing!! What?!?! Feels like the reporters have more potential solutions than he does. 28-33 vs. the Division this season.

Missed game today.  Looks like I didn't miss much.

Early in the year the bullpen was lights out.  Pitching outside of Cole was suspect and bats were silent.  Then starters got going in July, bats in August but bullpen started to falter.  They have barely been able to put 2 together at once let alone 3.

Rays beat Boston in 10, so first wildcard is retained, for now.

Toronto may have it by the end of the week, though.

And Cole leaves the game with some sort of a hand issue.
Season over
They're saying it's hamstring tightness.

Unfortunately, it's the left hamstring, which is his push-off leg, but saying that means he would be out longer then if it was the right hammy is only speculation on my part.

Left isn't his push off leg.  But thats semantics.  Right or left one pushes one lands and both will effect his form and velocity.

With the way Yankees starters have been pitching, Cole's injury is a killer. Hopefully he is back soon. Meanwhile, they weren't winning this game anyway with their pitiful offense. Right now Urshela and DJLM look lost at the plate. While the Jay's had 3 homers, the Yanks had warning track power only all night. Such a terribly streaky team that seems lost again.

You are right, its semantics.  At least to a degree.   I think you can compensate if its your push off leg by shortening your stride.  That might put more stress on your arm to generate velocity and cause other problems, but when its your landing leg you are toast.  You will feel it in the middle of every delivery and it will be impossible to locate the ball consistently, even if you somehow maintain velocity.

One has to hope it heals in 4 weeks and we somehow find our way to the post season, but this injury is a dagger in the heart of our post season aspirations for sure.
