I was wondering the same thing about why Wade did not even attempt to reach out for that ball. I thought Voit was good in the field, getting to 1st on a play Gil was slow. And making the throw to 2nd where neither Yankees infielder covered.

That play with the Voit throw I agree.  That was a big issue.  But I think it's on Torres.  Torres just isnt an alpha for me.  At SS you need to be an alpha.
If you are talking about that play in the 2nd or 3rd inning where they should have turned two after Voit layed out for a ball and made a perfect throw to 2nd, that was on Odor, not Torres.  He has the bag ion that play and needs to get there faster so he can get across it to the home plate side and give Voit a throwing lane.  He didn't, so when Voit threw from his knees, Odor lost sight of the ball when the baserunner crossed his line of sight and he stopped.

I disagree
But since you love Gleyber like a first born child

The throw was on the inside of the bag.  For Odor to get there, catch, stay on the bag, and throw would be a bit much.  Easier for the SS to cut across with momentum.  I recall see Gleyber's feet in cement not even moving to the bag.  Then again maybe it's PTSD of him the other night completely giving up on a blooper between him and the LF'er. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png
Watch the play again.  Torres is too far away to cover the bag because he's the only guy on the left side of the infield.   He never breaks for the bag.   Odor, who was playing 3b was behind the bag at 2nd base so he could turn the double play.   You are correct that Torres would have a better view of the throw but it wasn't his job to cover on that play.  He's responsible for covering 3b.  If he were to try to cover and lose a foot race to the bag with the runner, that runner just keeps on going to 3rd.
When you set up your defense that way the guy behind the bag has 2b.  The problem is that you don't anticipate the First baseman to be throwing from his knees.   If he's upright the throw is above shoulder level and Odor can see it the whole way.   Because the launch point of the throw is a few feet lower due to Voit diving, the runner's torso blocks Odor's view of the ball coming out of Voit's hand.
I know you hate Torres and would love for this to be on him so you can complain about him even more /media/kunena/emoticons/cheerful.png... but its not.

So is Voit or Odor at fault
Don't fence.  Can only pick one /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png
I've only blamed one.  Its on Odor.  He was a little unlucky in that if Voit was standing up he has a better view of the ball.  But if he does his job and sprints to the bag he's there when Voit makes the throw and can see it.  Easy DP if he catches it and steps in front of the bag to throw to 1B.

Just watched the replay of the link you so kindly provided.  I actually see Odor start to sprint then stop.  Then I see Gleyber trail away.  Seems like Odor saw Gleyber coming and he would have had the better angle.  But I won't pile on Gleyber anymore.  He has a boo boo as Bama calls it and will likely be out for awhile so we get more Tyler Wade why Park is batting leadoff and .300 for the Pirates.

Gleyber drifts towards the bag but stays where he was:  in position to cover 3rd, which he did when the ball went into LF.
Maybe Odor forgot he was supposed to cover.  Maybe he got confused in the middle of the play and hesitated.  Maybe he got screened by the runner and bailed on the play so he wouldn't get run over.

All are possible to varying degrees.  You'd have to ask him what he was thinking.
However, none of that changes the fact that his responsibility was 2b, and Gleyber's was 3rd.

Gleyber Torres to the IL.

I mean seriously, this is like 1/2 the roster out with COVID or injuries.
Giancarlo Stanton - the Ironman!

This might be the most infuriating Yankee game I have ever seen. Scoreless game, Yanks then score a  total of 5 runs in four consecutive innings and allow the Royals to match them in every bottom of the inning. Unfreakingbelieveable.

finally over. no more nails left.
thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhe yankees win.
game 112.
please someone not named "i swing at all pitches low and outside" stanton learn velazquez the strike zone.
voit drank a gallon of rustoleum before the game- a getty, 2 hits, and smoked a rope to the left fielder.
another great start for taillon who i mistakenly gave up for dead in the early season.
2 botched plays by loaisiga in the same at bat.
gardy's rbi in 2 different late innings easily made up for his rare running mistake.
if it was not for stolen bases, balks, wild pitches, past balls, catcher interferences, hit batters, these 2 teams might still be playing.
i threw away my nail clipper, i dont need it, i have the yankee bullpen.

Most aggravating 8-6 11 inning win in history. Fully expected Royals last hitter to come through with a 3 run dinger to win it 9-8. Hit a high chopper to third that was barely fielded to end the agony. got to admit I was at the point of just lose the damn game and end it. Both teams scored in every inning of the last 5 innings of the game. Took a Pepcid in 10th.

We're in a pennant race.  We can't worry about style points anymore.

Yes, the bullpen did a horrible job tonight, but give credit to the hitters, for staying tough, and responding every time.

Did you sit through it and watch it? It was excruciating. If I hadn't watched the game yes who cares about style points I would just have been happy that I saw that they had won. Scoreless game for 6 innings then every time Yanks scored you think that might be the winning run only to see KC come back and match them in scoring for 4 straight innings had have a HR hitter up as the winning run after Yanks score 3 in top of 11th. As I said excruciating.

Yes, I watched it.  It was tough.

But, I'd rather an ugly win then a pretty loss.

We are fortunate this season took a turn for the best! For a while there it was just not an enjoyable team to watch. No one knows the future but at least now we have a chance. Go Yankees!

Gallo makes Stanton look like a contact hitter.

Well considering as a Yankee Gallo is batting .160 and Stanton is hitting .260 that would be a pretty accurate statement.  Do you have tomorrow's lotto numbers too/media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

3, 7, 9, 24, 32, 44.

Nick nelson should play those numbers.  I have a rule.  When he enters a game my TV gets shut down.
