With Rizzi potentially coming, can Cashman pull off the deal of the century and find a place for Stanton? I just don't see any of this solving the issue with this team going offense-less so often, and the inability to win consistently in Cole's starts, among other flaws.
The Yankees have the 11th most K's in MLB this year (918)
Do you know who is first? Tampa Bay (1,021)
Other teams ahead of the Yankees are Brewers (3rd), Giants (7th), Phillies (10th) and Dodgers (12th just 2 K's behind Yankees)
All playoff teams.
The K's are overrated. It's part of the game. The GIDP is the biggest issue.
And stop with the Stanton talk. He has a no trade and is going nowhere. Wasted breath even mentioning him and trade.
K’s are totally unproductive. Put the ball in play, something may happen.
Clearly that lack of productivity hasn't effected all the playoff teams with more K's.

Did I see on the news that strikeout king Stanton hit a ground ball in the 8th inning that was booted, and a DP averted, and the Yanks scored a run? That would not have happened with a strikeout!

I bought for tomorrow expecting Cole too, but I go to a lot of games, so it doesn't bother me too much. Besides, Cortes has been the staff ace of late.JohnnyFan post=437570 said:
We go to one game a year. My son wanted to see Gerrit Cole pitch. So just yesterday I bought tickets for tomorrow night's game. I freakin' hate Covid!
They better find a taker for this Heaney guy after the season. From what I saw tonight (granted, just one game), he gives up way too many fly balls to ever be successful here. Similar to Phil Hughes, we'll look foolish if we keep him, and foolish if we let him go. But, I think we're going to have to let him go in the off-season.Delaware post=437569 said:After a bunch of trades and a weekend sweep, the New York Teasers were at it again tonight. How do you mail it in against a really bad team and a worse pitcher? And now Cole is out for a while? So Heaney will continue in the rotation. Can't be losing any games to teams this bad. And what is up with DJLM?

My question is: what is going on with this team, and COVID? They reached the 85 percent threshold in April, yet guys are still going down. This isn't happening on any other team. Not at this rate anyway.
