I can only hope....

Hope is great.  (Was also a great poster here but I digress)
But you should hope about some other things.  More realistic things /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Didn't Joey Gallo win a court case in Alabama when his cousin was arrested for killing a store clerk/media/kunena/emoticons/wassat.png

Yep, I think I heard that Gallo's in the 32 percentile for strikeouts. With Rizzi potentially coming, can Cashman pull off the deal of the  century and find a place for Stanton? I just don't see any of this solving the issue with this team going offense-less so often, and the inability to win consistently in Cole's starts, among other flaws.

The Yankees have the 11th most K's in MLB this year (918)
Do you know who is first?  Tampa Bay (1,021)
Other teams ahead of the Yankees are Brewers (3rd), Giants (7th), Phillies (10th) and Dodgers (12th just 2 K's behind Yankees)

All playoff teams.

The K's are overrated.  It's part of the game.  The GIDP is the biggest issue.

And stop with the Stanton talk.  He has a no trade and is going nowhere.  Wasted breath even mentioning him and trade.

I disagree, the strikeouts are a big issue especially when you combine it with the GIDPs and lack of other things the other this team doesn’t do that the teams you mentioned do which makes them better teams.

Stanton is nothing but a DH who doesn’t even do that well (something that Nelson Cruz excels at) which is a non-starter even if he didn’t have a no trade.  There always is a possibility that he eventually becomes unhappy and be willing to give up his no-trade clause with some sort of incentives ($, extension) but who wants him even with the “all it takes is one dumb owner” variable.

Gotta love locals adding pitchers with astronomical ERA's or is that stat passe nowadays?

No LeMahieu (tricep) or Urshela (hamstring) tonight, and maybe not for this series.  They are listed as day-to-day.  Also, factor in no DH (Stanton is starting, though), and the first game with the new look lineup will seem a bit strange.

Maybe this is why they didn't trade Voit today, but that's just a guess.

Torres SS
Gallo RF
Judge CF
Rizzo 1B
Stanton LF
Odor 2B
Sanchez C
Wade 3B
Taillon P

The injuries obviously play a part in this, but other then when the lineup flips over from 9 to 1, the Yankees will be rotating righties and lefties throughout the lineup. I can't remember the last time that happened (it rarely happens as is, but considering the imbalance that we've had all season, it's all the more amazing).

YES has Sanchez batting 6th, and Odor 7th.

MLB.com still has them flipped, which is how I listed it on this thread.

game 102.
rizzo gettys into upper deck.
as a poster in miami showed - the race for 28 begins today.

The New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired LHP Andrew Heaney and cash considerations from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for minor league right-handed pitchers Janson Junk and Elvis Peguero.

thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhe new new york yankees wiiiiiiiiiiiin,

K’s are totally unproductive. Put the ball in play, something may happen.

Clearly that lack of productivity hasn't effected all the playoff teams with more K's.

Nice win tonight. Hopefully finish off the sweep tomorrow. Rizzo looking great. Torres on defense makes me scratch my head almost every game. The strikeouts, DPs (although I don't think there was one tonight) and really poor hitting with RISP (tonight 3 for 12) will continue to hamper this team's attempt to move up the standings.

Well, all but one of the teams you mentioned Moose, are in the National League.  National League teams should have more strikeouts, because they are wasting a lot of at-bats with the pitcher.

As for Tampa, they do strike out a ton, but they also have a lot of guys who can hit the bad ball.  Arozarena, Choi, and Meadows (just to name a few) can all hit pitches out of the strike zone, and with power.  So, they're going to look foolish sometimes when a pitch is out of the strike zone, and has extra movement on top of it.  High strikeout totals may just be the price of doing business, for them.

That being said, it's the combination of strikeouts and double plays that have hurt this year.  I think you can get by with one being a problem, but not both.  It's somewhat amazing that the team has put up the record they have, with those strikeout and double play totals.

I still think winning the division is a long shot at best, but maybe we can make some of those wild card contenders pay for not burying us early, and with the way our pitching has been for most of the year, this team may be better built to win in the playoffs, then some of our more recent teams that have had better records.
