NY YANKEES - 2021

This weekend in Miami will be a challenge. Seems like the Yanks always struggle against them. At best they're. 500 vs. the Marlins.

Pretty much all the reporters saying that the Yankees have traded for Joey Gallo, pending physicals.

Not sure what we are giving up yet, but we can certainly use his lefty power bat.  Plus, he's signed for next year (which means we probably didn't get him cheap, FWIW).

Update (8:45 pm EST): The Athletic’s Lindsey Adler reports that at least five prospects will head the Rangers’ way: infielders Trevor Hauver and Ezequiel Duran, outfielder Everson Pereira, and pitchers Glenn Otto and Randy Vasquez. That’s a pretty deep haul for Texas, but one that doesn’t include any of the Yankees’ premier prospects.

Based on MLB Pipeline

14th, 15th, 17th, 23rd, 28th and unranked prospect.

Something to be said for going for lots of lotto tickets and maybe an indication of the lack of depth in the Rangers farm system.

Volpe and Peraza seem higher ceiling than Smith and Duran (who both have done very well)

Pereira is batting nearly .400 this year but very young at 20.  Quite aways away.

Otto has insane numbers this year.  Surely he's better than Kriske and some other gems thrown out this year.

Hauver got off to red hot start but people say he needs to keep hitting because he's position less and likely a corner LF/1B

Vasquez actually wasn't ranked but has caught some attention.

Had to be done.  Cleared up 40 man spots for offseason as well and Gallo is under contract.  Shows the depth the system had. Especially below AA

Example of stats not always telling the real story-if DJ L drops that pop up Chapman gets a blown save. Got pretty shook up watching DJ battle what would normally be a routine pop up save for the ridiculous roof at the Trop.

game 100.
chappy agita 1. section10 0.
another nail biting win.
rays sticks seem to be cooling off lately, while rays pitching is heating up.
bravo allen. another fine game.
thanks for yankee prospect update. could only find duran at #15.

Looks like deal is changing a bit.  Yankees seem to be holding onto Pereira which is nice coup

 From Jack Curry of YES
The Joey Gallo trade is inching forward. The Yankees would get Gallo and LHR Joely Rodriguez from Texas for 4 minor leaguers: RHP Glenn Otto, 2B Ezekiel Duran, SS Josh Smith and 2B/OF Trevor Hauver. Neither team has announced it officially yet.

Gallo and Joely Rodriguez salaries will be paid by Texas for the rest of the season giving the Yankees salary cap room to make another deal today

Yanks playing soccer today with the big sqaduche 0 while Tampa is playing football with 14.

Geez, how bad was that? 10 - 11. Bad numbers for the Yanks. That's as good a reason for where they are as any other. They are under .500 in Cole's starts. He has to be better, especially with a chance to sweep. Hopefully with Gallo, we see little or nothing of Gardner. Stanton sucks. Has there ever been a major league player with more than 40% of his at bats resulting in strikeouts??? Even with Gallo, this such a flawed team.

Get used to the strike-outs.  Gallo strikes out a ton too :)

Vizcaino has good stuff but can't stay healthy and hasn't got above single A yet.  Alcantara is intriguing at 6'6 but still just 19.  LONG ways away.  Plus Cubs paying Rizzo rest of the year.  Now Voit is trade bait for an arm.

Cash pushing all the chips in for this team to make playoffs and a run.

Yep, I think I heard that Gallo's in the 32 percentile for strikeouts. With Rizzi potentially coming, can Cashman pull off the deal of the  century and find a place for Stanton? I just don't see any of this solving the issue with this team going offense-less so often, and the inability to win consistently in Cole's starts, among other flaws.

The Yankees have the 11th most K's in MLB this year (918)
Do you know who is first?  Tampa Bay (1,021)
Other teams ahead of the Yankees are Brewers (3rd), Giants (7th), Phillies (10th) and Dodgers (12th just 2 K's behind Yankees)

All playoff teams.

The K's are overrated.  It's part of the game.  The GIDP is the biggest issue.

And stop with the Stanton talk.  He has a no trade and is going nowhere.  Wasted breath even mentioning him and trade.
