NY Post Critique

As I mentioned earlier I agree with the article but his opinion has changed in the last few days from this article

http://nypost.com/2014/01/17/red-alert-for-st-johns-red-storm/

a quote,
"But despite the morose outlook and the woe-is-us mantra St. John’s fans have adopted, the season is not over."

He got some recent intel and he put it out there.

All of these "reporters" are the same and want to be first to reveal something.

No way Zach would risk his relationship if he didn't know something had legs.

Yes you are right. I am glad someone, outside of the fans and alumni, has finally stepped up and recognized what is going on.
Good for Zach!

Which is worse, not being at any recruits games or going to a recruit's game and riding an excercise bike in the corner while the other coaches there are laughing at you?

Sunday night I challenged any reporter to have a pair of ball and ask Lavin tough questions, well this isn`t exactly asking Lavin, but atleast Zach put this out there for everyone to read.
TY Zach very much.
Hope if not all then atleast some of the donaters read the article. They`re paying his salary, bet they don`t like it at all.

I think there were rumors that Lavin was the one who screwed Harrick, so I guess it would be poetic justice if one of the current assistants was the mole.

1. WOW.... how times have changed. If you go back and reread the posts on this site entered just 30 to 45 days ago you will see that many posters on Redmen.com accepted Lavin's spin about "new players" playing together and rejected criticism of recruiting efforts by Lavin and his highly paid $taff. Posters on this site predicted NCAA Sweet 16 and Final 4 appearances and posters that criticized Lavin were themselves criticized for question him.

2. Lavin is not stupid. Lavin is a great self promoter. Lavin knows that next year promises to be uglier than this season and he doesn't want to be at StJohns. Lavin knows that his name brand is depreciating by the day. My prediction remains that Lavin has asked his agent to simultaneously negotiate deals with StJohns for a buyout of his contract and to negotiate a deal for his return to television with ESPN, FOX, or some other media.

Not on the recruiting trail,he is leaving. His image ,his wife, who knows.something his wrong.Mr. lavin,if your heart is not in it ,leave now. The fans deserve honesty and commitment

Who is this Zach guy, and what are his credentials? Sorry, I am not from NY, so I am just curious about who he is.

And also, I hate to break it to ya, but donaters DO NOT pay Lavin's salary, the University does. However, the school may choose to allocate some of the donated money towards his salary. Lavin's salary is not contingent upon the amount of donations they get. Unless he has some weird clause in his contract which states he earns a certain % of donations, if his salary is $1.3M (and I have no idea what his actual salary is), that is what he is going to get, regardless if donations are $5M or $0.

Rutgers had a good coach, Gary Waters, who had everything except an end game. He got fired and Rutgers hasn't had a coach with a record over .500 since.

Lavin has to work his behind off figuring out an end game. That's what's killing him. I'm extremely disappointed we're talking about this in year four of Lavin's tenure...but I'd rather wait until the end of the season before throwing him under the bus.

Zach Brazilier, he's the college basketball writer for the NY Post that covers St. John's. He defended Norm for a very long time, so this is somewhat a surprise.

I certainly agree about a lack of strategy in the final minutes. We never look prepared for the end of the game. But did you forget our notorious slow starts?
Aside from Villanova, we've been a terrible first 10mins team too.

Absolute total conjecture, at this point.

Agree 1000%. The problem isn't that we can't close--it's that we're playing unorganized street ball out there and it permeates the entire game, start to finish.

Having a critical article in NYPost will stir up the STJ conversation among even casual NYC sports fans causing a groundswell that will lead to a change in leadership.

I tend to agree. This article will result in a self-fulfilling prophecy. IMHO, it's only a matter of time now.

There are plenty of W's left on the schedule. STJ has 6 games left at MSG, plus the BE tourney, and winnable road games at Butler, Prov, Marq, Hall. I can see the team getting back to .500 in conference, they have to play better. I think looking for replacements is premature at this point. Way too much season left.
