Notre Dame Game

I am not sure what was more embarrassing: the play on the court or the fight.

If you watch Pointer every game, you know he is a chippy player. Don't know exactly what transpired, but his play and antics all game point to him as the culprit. And, he's been that way in other games. I like the kid, and think he's improved, but he has to control himself. Was a little dismayed to see his father's reaction (he was pleased by the incident). I don't mind a little mild trash talking, its a part of the game; but you can't let it get out of hand.

The Notre Dame kids and fans can be brutal, but our kids have to learn to control themselves. Obepka, Sampson and a few others did, they all have to.

But, the most concerning thing was the lack of offense and the lack of adjustment. We've seen this before, and they have to be able to figure out how to run an offense. To throw it around the perimeter is not an offense. I know when you have no one who can shoot, it is hard, but they have to develop something, anything. The kid on ND who torched us from the outside is a SHOOTER like we have not had since Chris. Bourgault is not a shooter like that. He continues to disappoint.

Next year will be better, and it can't come soon enough.

I am not sure how Marco can disappoint by getting literally 1 chance a game to come off the bench and hit a shot. Lavs does absolutely nothing to help get him going.

if he was that good, he'd be going direct to the NBA.

Also, Lavin has to take some blame about the Poiner incident. Clearly, its Pointer's fault. But as soon as I saw that he was coming back on the court with the game out of reach, I knew there was trouble. He already had an incident this half, he's emotional player, and the game was getting embarssing. Plus, his family was in the stands. There was NO REASON to have him in the game for the last 3 minutes. Know your personnel Lav.

Why is it ok for Dom to show emotion on the court but not Dlo??
you might want to add a comma at the end of "court" in your sentence professor.

Sorry but I thought the ND kid instigated that fight. He took a swipe at Pointer as he passed him and Pointer went after him. I say good for Pointer. It is about time they stop being afraid of the other team. As for shooters, yea we dont have any but I think the only alternative is to put the Frenchman out there and tell him to keep shooting.

Is it that hard to say Marco?
Really?
We had a Marco a long time ago he was Italian- Marco Baldi. This Marco needs a distinct name. I like the Frenchman

He's supposed to be a spot-up shooter. In each of the last 3 or 4 games, he's had 3 or 4 shots and made very few of them. If he doesn't do what he's assigned to do when he's in there, he does not warrant pt. He does nothing else particularly well, so if you have him and CO in the game, its like playing 5 on 3 on offense. if he happens to be hot (I have not really seen that yet), he gets more pt. It's pretty simple.

I assume pointer and garrett are out for our final regular season game. will pointer be out for the BET to? does anyone know the conference rule in regards to this (unless it is an ncaa rule)?

Marco is a spot up shooter and that's the problem, they never get him open. He played with Phil running the point and he never drives and kicks out so he had to force a few tough shots.

lot of crying on here tonight could it be i was right about this team or are we still zipping the kool-aid mixed with four loko. anyone have a issue with my nit comment now or do we still have a shot at the tourney . nit nit nit i just hope we can win another game in the great words of jim mora lol. but hey i do think things will be better next year instead of 8-10 in the big east i think they will be 11-7 and make the tourney god bless and really looking foward to next year, one more thing i dont think lav should be fired but if he dont make the tourney next year he will be on the hot seat

Miguel, why do act as if you are the only person on the planet who saw this team as a possible NIT? I know there were people here who thought we had a chance at making the tournament earlier and you know why? Because we did. We had a good stretch against the lesser teams and many of us on here did something that is not uncommon, we looked positively on the season because we are fans. The reality is that most of us knew coming in that the NCAA was going to be a stretch. We were picked 10th in the conference. Most major publications had us not making the tournament. So you decided to stick with the view that we were an NIT team. Well good for you. Wow, that was a remarkable prediction on your part. As for the members here who entertained us making the dance, shame on them for being fans and hoping that we had a chance. Funny thing is, a free throw here or there against Villanova, Rutgers & Providence and guess what, it's a whole different conversation. But I'm sure you also predicted the outcomes of those games down the exact final scores. Got news for you buddy, we may not even make the NIT, if we don't, does that mean your not as smart as you sound?

Well then I would be like your professors that obviously taught you wrong grammar. You put a comma before conjunctions if they connect two independent clauses. And I am an accountant. Must be embarrassing.

actually what i said was that this team was not a tourney team if you look at our record 16-13 we beat depaul twice rutgers and south florida we ate on the lower tier teams then when we faced some real teams we got it handed to us any more questions. also i just stated the other day the nit might be a lost cause .

Ok, so you said we are not a tourney team. Wow, that was quite a revelation. Most experts were saying the same thing. We all knew our schedule was going to tougher. You sound as if we did something wrong in beating USF and DePaul. You have to win the games on the schedule. Just ask Georgetown, they lost to USF.

I assume pointer and garrett are out for our final regular season game. will pointer be out for the BET to? does anyone know the conference rule in regards to this (unless it is an ncaa rule)?

Pointer definatly gone for Saturday. Garrett is subject to review from the league (my gut is, FWIW, they let him play. Looked like he was going out to be the peacemaker, and I didn't see him throw a punch).

I, thankfully, just got in from work (amongst other things) and saw it was probably a good thing I missed this. I know we had a lead at halftime so this must have gotten real ugly.

Only one real question to ask anyone who follows this team...doe Phil Greene have compromising pics of someone on the coaching staff and is threatening to use them? How can a guy repeatedly shoot this awful, turn the ball over as much as he does, and dribble the ball into oblivion all the time and still play 35 minutes a game? I know we have no depth, but I'd play a walk on before I'd allow this to happen so often.

I'm surprised and have no idea why Phil Greene gets 14 or 16 shots a game and makes 5? This game was depressing because it summarizes the fact that we are putting players on the Court who cannot make baskets..And, yet, some here think this group of players will improve? I think they've gone backwards in terms of development.. Except Sampson..

It's unfathomable why Lavin refuses to put Bourgault in the game. He barely got 3 shots in this game..

I'm not ready to suggest Lavin be fired but, he's not delivering much for being so heralded a Coach when he was hired.I just find his game management missing.

im not beating my chest just want you guys to finally realize this team is seriously flawed. we cant shoot. our offensive sets are garbage our coach is nothing but ra ra pump you up guy. our basketball i.q sucks and yet there are people on here saying if we win the big east tourney please stop it its over see you next year.
