NIT = failure
I vote to delete this thread.
There are around 32 conferences that will send their champs to the NCAA. Of that number, around 20 schools that are low level basketball schools would not even make the NIT had they not had an automatic bid to the NCAA. There are schools with SOS and RPI's that are in the hundreds that are going to the NCAA while we go to the NIT with a lot of school's that would have been in the NCAA had those twenty weak conferences not had automatic bids. It is what it is but a failure it is not given the above.
Perfect example of this is Cal Poly. They had 11 division-1 wins this year yet they are in the big dance.
I don't think that this is a problem for college basketball though, this is exactly what makes this time of year so great.
